Every year, when a player dominates a competition like the VFL, SANFL or the WAFL, spectators mutter the obvious line: “Should’ve been playing in the AFL.”
Here, in my opinion, are the top 10 players who never went over to the ‘big league’, the VFL, or these days, the AFL.
The top 10 players are:
1. Barrie Robran (North Adelaide – SANFL).
2. Stephen Michael (South Fremantle – WAFL).
3. Garry McIntosh (Norwood – SANFL).
4. Michael Aish (Norwood – SANFL).
5. John Cahill (Port Adelaide – SANFL).
6. Nick Sautner (Sandringham – VFL).
7. Bill Swan (Port Melb/Will’town – VFL).
8. Bruce Light (Port Adelaide – SANFL).
9. Paul Bagshaw (Sturt – SANFL).
10. John Todd (Sth Fremantle – WAFL).
