Australia’s tail will be chasing runs when they resume at 7-202 on the final morning of the second Test against India in Bangalore.

With only a 185-run lead over the hosts, Mitchell Johnson (7no) and Nathan Hauritz (8no) will seek to push India’s target somewhere beyond the 216 the Australians failed so narrowly to defend in the first Test at Mohali.

Indian master Sachin Tendulkar, who made 214 to take India into a first innings lead, said the match was nicely balanced for another close finish.

“(We’re) disappointed to lose five wickets in the span of 45 to 50 runs in the morning, but such is the game,” he said.

“I think we have come back very well. (Our) bowlers did a fantastic job.

“It’s going to be a big day for us tomorrow. The Test match is at a critical stage. It’s all about how we deal with pressure and apply ourselves.

“It’s going to be exciting and that’s what I can say. It’s going to be a wonderful day.”

Australian debutant pace bowler Peter George, who claimed the wicket of Tendulkar as his first in Test matches, said there was plenty of resolve among the Australians after Mohali.

“We’ve still got three wickets in hand,” he said.

“We’ll try to bowl them out and show we can win this match.”
