Socceroos Mark Schwarzer and Brett Holman are set to return to Australia this week with a spring in their step following big results for their clubs on Sunday.

Schwarzer and Holman are set to be key components for Australia in Friday’s friendly against Malaysia in Canberra and next week’s World Cup qualifier against Oman in Sydney on October 11.

Schwarzer’s Fulham dished out a 6-0 caning of English Premier League new boys QPR with Andy Johnson scoring a hat-trick at Craven Cottage.

It was Fulham’s first win of the season and pushed them up the table to 12th place with seven points from seven matches.

The veteran shot-stopper has been in fine form over the past fortnight, having not conceded a goal in open play for four matches or more than six hours.

Meanwhile Holman’s AZ Alkmaar secured a four-point lead at the top of the table in the Dutch top-flight after eight matches with a 3-1 victory at Venlo.
