The Prince's hat-trick as Milan escape

In what was a dismal first half for the Rossoneri, Lecce put on an incredible performance to go 3-0 up in a battering fashion.

Bursting with precision and power out of midfield, Lecce showcased an inspired and speedy performance as beautiful as the coastal city itself.

A Giacomazzi-goal on four minutes, followed by a penalty by former Milanista, Massimo Oddo and a crushing third by Carlos Grossmuller made any possibility of a comeback seem, well, impossible. But against all odds, it was.

With Milan virtually refusing to play ball in the first half, it would take a masterful stroke of genius by Allegri to change tides. Even the most prolific of experts could not predict what was about to happen.

Kevin-Prince Boateng, the German-Ghanaian wonder kid came on in the second half, hungry for blood.

Scoring a hat-trick in the space of 14 minutes was reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo’s the day before against Malaga; strong, determined, incredible.

The ‘Prince of Milan’ struck the ball with such class that it put Ibrahomivic’s missing performance in the dark.

Boateng’s determination to be one of the best has been paying dividends for the Rossoneri, as they predictably make a slow start to the Serie A campaign.

He has been a solid performer for the legendary champions, scoring a stunning goal against Bate in the Champions League mid-week and being an all-around reliable impact player.

But having seen what he did against a raging Lecce today helped remind us why he is indeed the Prince of Milan.

Not often, but every once in a while across all leagues, you see a player like Prince who has an unwavering determination to never settle, to push the team forward and really make a name for themselves.

They exhibit natural leadership qualities, which allow you to foresee a bright and prosperous future in the world of football.

For Serie A, that’s Prince.

Milan went on to overturn the deficit and win 4-3, thanks to a game-winning header by Mario Yepes on 83 minutes.

It would be easy to say this displays Milan’s resilience and ability to remain strong, a mental clarity superior to most and a never-say-die attitude, but in all fairness that was not the case today. Accolades must go full-handed to Boateng for his man of the match performance, and for reminding us all just why Serie A is a beautiful league to watch.

If The Prince can resist the Barcelona temptation in the same fashion as Thiago Silva, AC Milan will be the team to beat in the next few years, mark my words.

Everything the Catalans and Real Madrid fear they buy, but with more and more younger players opting to stay off the golden bench and make a name for themselves, there is something very positive going on in football and players such as Kevin-Prince Boateng are at the helm of it.
