The Bellerive Oval will host the Hobart Hurricanes, who play the Sydney Sixers in the sixth game of the Big Bash League this season. We’ll bring you the live scores and commentary of the action throughout the game, with the match starting at 7.00 pm local time.

Hobart earlier kicked off their campaign with an asphyxiating defeat of the Perth Scorchers. The Scorchers lost four wickets for 28 in their chase of 141 and never recovered.

On a difficult pitch, the Hurricanes had set themselves up for a possible score of 155 but lost their last eight wickets for 39 runs. Perth went a couple of notches lower with their start.

Ben Hilfenhaus, who got a Test call-up for the India series earlier today, was awarded the player-of-the-match prize for his 2/10 from his four overs. He was almost unplayable and the cornerstone of their win.

Coincidentally, the Sixers also needed to make 140 to win their game against Brisbane. Unlike Scorchers, they had no problems in their chase, as they romped away to an easy seven-wicket win with eight balls to spare.

The victory was set up by the Sixers’ pace bowlers and captain Brad Haddin’s 76 at the top of the chase.

Brett Lee, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood’s combined 12 overs cost the side only 63 runs. They also scalped four Brisbane Heat wickets.

Then the top-order stayed around long enough with Haddin to prevent any major capitulations in their chase. The captain had collected three runs from his first 11 balls before smacking five sixes and five fours in the next 48 to get the job done.

A lot will be at stake in this game, especially for the winning side. With both teams coming off victories in their openers, a win here will make it two wins in a row and an early lead in the points table.

The track should be much more receptive for the batsmen than that Test match against New Zealand. The prominent green on the pitch could be shaved off for this game and the rest of the Big Bash League.

We will bring you the coverage throughout the game at the Gabba in Brisbane and hope to receive your opinions as the action unfolds.
