The Test series between Australia and India has taken another controversial turn, with India demanding action be taken over people allegedly drinking and walking on the WACA pitch hours before the third Test began.

The Indian team was shown footage, shot by Indian TV crews, of people shown drinking beers and walking on the uncovered WACA pitch last night.

It is believed more than a dozen people were seen lying and walking on the wicket, with some playing mock batting strokes with beer bottles. It is believed WACA curator Cameron Sutherland was among those present at the time.

The footage has been shown to Indian team management and officials, as well as the International Cricket Council. India have asked for Cricket Australia to investigate the issue.

Australia have a 2-0 lead in the four Test series. This incident comes after Indian bowler Ishant Sharma was caught giving a middle finger gesture to Perth locals at a go-karting track this week.

Indian batsman Virat Kohli was also fined 50% of his match fee after making an abusive gesture to spectators at the second Test in Sydney.
