Two sides plagued with inconsistency take each other on this afternoon, with the Newcastle Jets travelling across the Tasman to face off against the Wellington Phoenix in Napier. Join us for live scores and commentary from 3.00pm AEDT.

The Phoenix went up against all odds and took a point from the Wanderers at Wanderland last Sunday afternoon.

Yet their start so far hasn’t been anything to crow about, after they lost it late at home in Round 1 against Brisbane Roar.

Meanwhile the Jets are the only side in the competition to not have scored against their opposition in 180 minutes of football so far this season.

The boys from Newcastle have been dour and listless, and things won’t get too much better as their talismanic Englishman Emile Heskey is still out injured.

Head-to-head the Phoenix have won 12 out of 19 matches, while two draws have occurred.

My prediction for this match has to favor the home side, as it’s difficult to win in New Zealand, especially without your number one striker.

Wellington look too strong for me, and I tip former Victory boy Carlos Hernandez to finally get things going for the Nix.
