Matt Gillett will make his Australian debut after fellow Brisbane Broncos backrower Sam Thaiday was ruled out of the match against the Kiwis next week.

Thaiday has been battling injury at club level as well, missing the last two game for the Broncos with a calf injury.

“Brisbane Broncos forward Matt Gillett will make his Kangaroos debut in Friday night’s Rugby League Test against New Zealand at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium.

Gillett, who joined the Holden Kangaroos in camp this morning, will replace Broncos team-mate Sam Thaiday, who has been ruled out of the Test with a calf injury.

Cowboys centre Brent Tate will join the squad as 18th man.”

Meanwhile, Gold Coast playmaker Aidan Sezer became the first player to withdraw from the City-Country clash, replaced by Bulldogs halfback Trent Hodkinson.

His place in the squad has been taken by Bulldogs player Trent Hodkinson.
