Saturday afternoon football returns to Pirtek Stadium when the ninth-placed Parramatta Eels take on the struggling St George Illawarra Dragons. Join us for live blog scores and updates from 3pm AEST.

Parramatta continued their promising home form in an 18-point mauling of the Sharks last start, and will be out to build on that momentum against a St George Illawarra side that just suffered a humiliating defeat.

The fullbacks tht will play a significant part in determining the result of this game.

Jarryd Hayne and Josh Dugan are both still in contention for the NSW Origin No. 1 jersey, and a dominant performance would help either player’s prospects.

For the backs to do their stuff, the forwards will have to tough out in the early part of the match.

The Dragons pack will be stung by widespread criticism of their efforts against the Bulldogs, and will be keen to show their coach that they belong in the NRL.

Backing up from a Monday night match is historically difficult, but coach Brad Arthur is no doubt relieved that he hasn’t picked up too many injuries from the match.

He has made just the one change, with Joseph Paulo coming into the starting side at the expense of Peni Terepo. Cult hero Fuifui Moimoi will again line up in the NSW Cup.

For the Dragons, the focus hasn’t been the names on the team sheet, rather on the key name missing.

When will Benji Marshall makes his debut in the famous Red V? He hasn’t been named in the squad, however coach Price was cagey during the Dragons’ media session, saying that no decision had been made on what level of football, if any, Marshall will be playing this weekend.

The Dragons hold a slight advantage in head-to-head results over the Eels, and with the death of club legend and rugby league immortal Reg Gasiner during the week, have extra incentive to perform well.

While the Eels’ home form has been impressive in 2014, an emotionally charged Dragons playing away from home could well prove too strong for the Parramatta side.
