After a scratchy start to the Four Nations, the undermanned Kangaroos are hitting their straps and the Kiwis are wary.

The two sides meet in the final in Wellington on Saturday after the Kiwis survived a bruising encounter to edge England and Australia overwhelmed Samoa.

The dominant 44-18 destruction of Samoa, who had pushed New Zealand close a week earlier, had the Kiwis sitting up and taking notice.

“They’re gelling a little bit better now compared to the first game.

“We’re up for a massive Test come Saturday night, but we’re ready,” said prop Adam Blair.

The West Tigers forward was keen for Australia to make the final so that the trans-Tasman rivals could lock horns again after the Kiwis won the opening encounter 30-12.

“You always want to put yourself up against the best.”

He suggested Australia would start favourites for the Test, but believed the hosts had it in them to repeat their success in the 2010 tournament.

“I’m confident in what we’ve done so far,” he said.

“If we go out and do what we have done this tournament, and a little bit extra, I think we could go away with the win.”
