Bernard Tomic continues his Australian Open campaign on the last game up on Margaret Court Arena tonight against another classy opponent in the German Phillip Kohlschreiber. Join The Roar from around 9:00pm AEDT for live scores and commentary.

Tomic was solid in his first round encounter against another German in Tobias Kamke who pushed the Australian hard in four sets.

In his six Australian Open appearances, Tomic’s best result is the fourth round and many believe that this year he can yet again match this feat.

After the disappointment of last year when Bernard retired hurt in the opening round to Rafael Nadal, Tomic seems to have resurrected his physical and mental well-being this summer.

The 66th ranked player on the ATP Tour is up against a veteran on the tour in Phillip Kohlschreiber. The 22nd seed at this Australian Open breezed through his opening match showing consistency and composure from the baseline.

The 31 year old was as high as 16 in the world back in 2012. With five titles to his name and $8 million richer in prize money, the German will be no easy-beat for the Australian.

In their last meeting in Sydney earlier in the year, the Australian was successful in two relatively comfortable sets. He was able to dictate most points from the baseline set up by a good serving performance.

As far as this game is concerned, I think the Australian will be too strong in front of his home crowd. He is coming into this match after being tested by a fellow countryman of his opponent tonight and that performance in Round 1 should hold him in good shape for this game.

Expect Kohlschreiber to test Tomic but the Aussie will win.
