Well it has been another weekend of almost meaningless trials but at least most teams got a trip away.
Let’s take a look at all of the action, catching up on how our NRL teams are doing ahead of another gruelling campaign.
Tigers put Eels under the heat
In Alice Springs it was the heat that provided the greatest trial, with the Tigers’ new recruits Josh Drinkwater and Kevin Naiqama prominent. Both teams were lacking many first graders, however.
Wests Tigers 20-4 Parramatta Eels
Tigers tries: Naiqama (2), Hoeter, Richards. Goals: Drinkwater, Richards.
Parramatta tries: Goodall.
Souths back to Redfern when they should be off to England
Souths fielded an almost no names team for its return to Redfern for a trial against a Queensland Cup side. John Sutton took charge of the playmaker’s role and the Rabbitohs managed its second trial draw after fielding a much stronger side and drawing 12-12 with the Dragons in the Charity Shield.
The Souths side, particularly the forwards, look short of match practice prior to facing St Helens in the World Club Challenge.
Rabbitohs 20-20 Northern Pride
South tries: Setefano Taukafa, Sam Manuleleua, Eden Syme, Jordie Hedges. Goals: Jordie Hedges (2).
Pride tries: Semi Taduala (2), Brett Anderson, Luke George. Goals: Jordon Biondi Odo, Jarred Verney.
Warriors all sulphur and brimstone against Panthers
In Rotorua, it was the Warriors who fielded more first grade players to put the Panthers in hot water. The Panthers team was quiet, with big winger Ken Maumalo scoring a double for the Warriors.

Serious injuries mar Knights’ Wauchope romp
The Newcastle Knights played the Port Macquarie Sharks and Wauchope Blues in two trial matches played at Wauchope’s Lank Bain Oval on Saturday against opposition that failed to score.
The Knights brought a solid squad but left with a less solid squad after two players were injured. Young star Jalean Feeney suffering a suspected broken arm and Pat Mata’utia is feared to have broken his leg.

Knights tries: Randell (2), P Mata’utia (2), Feeney (2), Mataora, Elias, Ross, Leilua. Goals: Randell (7/9).
Knights 32-0 Wauchope
Knights tries: Mamo (2), Elias, Keenan, Filipo, Randell. Goals: Tuha (2/5), Levi (1/1).
Junior Storm beat East Tigers
Well, Melbourne may have run out 44-12 winners over Queensland Cup side Easts Tigers on Saturday in their NRL trial match at Goscher’s Paddock but they have still failed to field their first grade squad. Giving these juniors a chance to play is not achieving much.
