Last season was a rollercoaster ride for the Manchester United supporters as they struggled for goals, thus ruling out a possible title contention. Here are five strikers that Manchester United should target to acquire in the summer transfer window if they wish to vie for the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season.

1. Karim Benzema
Benzema has proven his quality as a striker, and his experience could benefit players behind him such as midfielder Ander Herrera. His physicality would fit the Premier League perfectly, and with his clinical finishing he could have what it takes to take United back to the top. Another positive in the chase for Benzema is that Real Madrid are already saying that they will allow him to leave if a bid in the region of 40 million is offered.

2. Alexandre Lacazette
The Lyon front man has enjoyed a prolific season finding the net 27 times. His pace, agility and ability to finish inside the box makes him an ideal target for a lacking Manchester United attack. Just 24 years old, Lacazette is also a smart buy, although there is competition for his signature from PSG, Bayern Munich and rival club Liverpool.

3. Mario Mandzukic
Mandzukic has reportedly fallen out with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, and has hinted at a move away.

This towering striker known for his physicality and aerial threat could be a useful addition to the Manchester United front line, and would fit in well in front of Wayne Rooney. Juventus are currently favourites to land Mandzukic yet Manchester United are still a chance to secure his signature if they are prepared to splash the cash

4. Harry Kane
Harry Kane had a breakout 2014/15 season for Tottenham. Kane was one of the Premier League’s top scorers and is a consistent target man for the Spurs. The price tag of 50 million seems a bit unreasonable especially for a striker who has only been a proven goal scorer for one season, however Kane is young, has many years left in him and would be far from the worst buy for Manchester United.

5. Jackson Martinez
The Colombian forward is a wanted man by many top teams, and Manchester United have already seen him as a potential signing. Martinez is a pacey striker with plenty of ability, and the Porto striker seems keen to move on to a bigger challenge in his career. This could be a perfect time for Manchester United to snap up the in form striker.
