The Tigers are rising for a finals tilt

I wrote earlier in the year that a good start for Tigers would be 3-1 or 4-0 after the first four rounds.

Well that did not happen, and the losses to Geelong and North did not help the cause. It left the Tigers after six rounds 2-4 and sitting in 13th.

They looked to have another long season on the way.

Round 7 however seemed to be a turning point with a win against Collingwood starting a winning streak that gave them a 6-4 record going into the bye and putting them just inside the eight.

Looking back at the wins, it looks that the Tigers are final got their game plan working. With slow ball movement helping them gain control, and fast ball movement when they need to score, they were able to defeat the Dockers in Round 10.

How will they go in the coming weeks?

Looking at the next five games, I thinking the Tigers could pick up a few wins and push themselves further into finals contention.

Tigers versus Eagles – win
Eagles are playing well, but this is the first game at the MCG and with the strength of the Tigers backline I think it will be a hard game for the men from the west.

Tigers versus Swans – 50/50
The Swans are on top of there game at this point but the Tigers interstate record gives them a good chance.

Tigers versus Giants – 50/50
The Giants are playing a good brand of football and there is a reason why they are in the top eight.

Tigers versus Blues – win
This is always a close game but Tigers are to strong at this point in time.

Tigers versus Saints – win
The Saints are showing some good form at the moment but it will not be enough to stop the Tigers.

If the Tigers come out of these games with a 3-2 or 4-1 record, they put themselves in a very strong position to make it into the eight.

After that, there is four of the last seven games that are winnable for them. If they can win five, it would most likely put them just outside the top four.
