Roger Federer continues his quest for an eighth Wimbledon title when he takes on American Sam Querrey in the second round at the All England Club. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from 11:30pm AEST.

Tonight Federer faces an opponent who has had a solid grass season so far.

Sam Querrey, who was ranked around 80 in the world at the same time last year, has rocketed into contention for a seeding at the upcoming US Open after a good month on grass.

He made the final last week at Nottingham, and followed that up with a straight set win over Igor Sijsling here.

His serve, which is one of the most powerful in the game, will be something for Federer to keep an eye on.

He served 30 aces against Sijsling and lost just ten points on his serve.

If he can repeat that against Federer then he will come close to winning sets tonight.

Federer though was ruthless against Damir Dzumhur in the opening round.

In 68 minutes he would lose just 7 games against the number 1 player from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dzumhur, who has been a pioneer for his country in tennis, was the first player from his country to make the main draw of Wimbledon.

This match-up is perfect for Federer, who likes returning against players who have speed in their serve.

It will be interesting to see if Querrey can get sets to tiebreakers and win one or two to make the match interesting.

These two have faced each other twice before with the last meeting held in 2008.

At the French Open in that year, Federer won in straight sets, 6-4 6-4 6-3.

One year earlier, Federer would also defeat Querrey in straight sets at the Miami Masters.

He should be too strong for Querrey again tonight but I favour the American to win at least one set. If Querrey can be strong on the important points, then he can certainly take a set.

Federer though should make the third round without too much trouble.

Prediction: Federer 3-1
