It will be a fight for three much-needed points at Goodison Park where Everton host defending champions Chelsea, with both looking to kick-start their English Premier League season. Join The Roar for live scores and updates from 9:30pm (AEST).

Although Everton have a one-point advantage over Chelsea on the ladder, neither of these teams have had a great start to the season.

Chelsea need three points to keep up with league leaders Manchester City, who gave not dropped any points so far this season.

Chelsea overcame Everton in both 2014-15 fixtures, winning away from home 6-3 in the highest-scoring match of the season, before a tough 1-0 home victory.

The last time Everton defeated the Blues was in 2013-14, where a Steven Naismith goal helped them to a 1-0 win.

Tom Cleverley was withdrawn from Everton’s last fixture, against Tottenham at White Hart Lane, replaced by Kevin Mirallas. This could mean he plays again, or new signing Gerard Deulofeu may play his first match. Deadline-day signing Ramiro Funes Mori could also play from the bench.

Chelsea’s Pedro should start his third Premier League match, while the centre-back partnership of John Terry and Gary Cahill could be in jeopardy after their torrid start to the season, with one likely to make way for Kurt Zouma in Jose Mourinho’s side.

Euro 2016 qualifiers saw Chelsea’s diamond duo Diego Costa and Pedro feature in Spain’s 2-0 win over Slovakia.

Everton’s skipper Phil Jagielka and defensive partner John Stones both played 90 minutes as England qualified for the European Championships in France with a 6-0 victory over San Marino. Cahill was an unused substitute in this match.

Everton young gun Ross Barkley was another to play 90 minutes and scored his first international goal, while he assisted the sixth goal, continuing his hot form from club level.

Prediction
Considering both teams’ early form, I’m predicting a draw.

Everton 2-2 Chelsea
