A loss for Manchester City at White Hart Lane against Tottenham could see them fall from top spot in the English Premier League. Join The Roar from 9:45pm (AEST) for live scores to see if the Spurs can hand the Citizens their second loss of the season.

Manchester City’s perfect start to the season was tarnished last week when West Ham pulled off a miraculous victory at the Etihad.

A win here is crucial for Manuel Pellegrini’s side to keep ahead of the chasers for the Premier League title and ensure that last week’s loss is remembered as but a singular hiccup in a spectacular start to the campaign.

Spurs have been up and down in 2015/16 and have struggled to find the net at times. Last week, new boy Son Heung Min scored the solitary goal for the Londoners to topple Crystal Palace and handed his side their second win on the trot.

A win here would constitute a purple patch for the Spurs and could quite possibly catapult them into the sought after Champions League qualification places.

History suggests that Manchester City deserve their favourites status in this match. In the last 10 meetings between these two sides, the Citizens have secured all three points in eight whilst Spurs have emerged victorious just once. In the corresponding fixture last season, City eked out a 1-0 victory care of a sole Sergio Aguero goal.

The bookies have classed City as clear favourites in this one regardless of being the away side ($1.95), whilst the home side are at a backable $3.75.

Spurs are without midfielder Nabil Bentaleb whilst Ryan Mason is expected to return from the injury which kept him out at the weekend. For Manchester City, Gael Clichy and Fabien Delph remain sidelined with long term injuries.

It’s not difficult to pick out the key players in a fixture like this. Goals win games and the strike forces at either end are sure to decide the result.

For City, Sergio Aguero will be ably assisted by Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and David Silva. Whilst Spurs will hope Christian Eriksen, Son Heung Min and the out of form Harry Kane can manufacture a path to goal.

Prediction: Spurs 0-2 Man City
