From football hero to Hollywood star to infamous accused murderer: Muted tributes for OJ Simpson
The extraordinary episodes after his life as an American Football hero quite overshadowed the career of O.J. Simpson, who has died at the age…
Jarryd Hayne will remain with the San Francisco 49ers, but not in the capacity he would like after being signed to their practice squad.
The former NRL star’s future was in the balance earlier today after he cleared the waiver period without being picked up by another team.
He will now continue to learn the nuances of the game in the practice squad and hope for a call-up into a depleted 49ers backfield.

Yesterday it appeared as if Hayne’s stocks were set to rise with the 49ers after they suffered injuries to running back Reggie Bush and Mike Davis.
Bush went down early in the 49ers’ loss to the Rams with a suspected ACL injury, while Bush suffered a suspected fractured hand.
The injures meant that the 49ers’ depth at running back was heavily depleted, opening up discussion that a spot for Hayne might have re-opened.
However, in a twist that does not bode well for Hayne returning to the 53-man roster, the 49ers have reportedly signed former Browns running back Shaun Draughn to bolster their attack.

It has also been announced that the 49ers will be trialling former Houston Texans running back Ben Tate, who is currently a free agent.
FA RB Ben Tate is working out for the #49ers tomorrow, source said. With Reggie Bush likely out for the season, he could take his spot

Before the injuries to Bush and Davis, or Draughn or Tate entering the picture, it was tipped that Hayne was heading for the 49ers’ practice squad, with those close to Hayne expressing that he had no intention to throw in the towel and make a return to the NRL.
