Minnesota Vikings 20

The Minnesota Vikings have secured the NFC North after a close-fought game at Lambeau Field.

Points were hard to come by in the last game of the regular season with no touchdowns scored in the first half.

With the scores 6-3 in favour of the Vikings at half-time, the tides finally turned early in the third quarter when Adrian Peterson scored off a strong drive.

Captain Munnerlyn soon followed the trend after he recovered Aaron Rodgers’ fumble to go 55 yards to the end zone.

The Packers didn’t make it to the end zone until midway through the last term when Richard Rodgers made a 16-yard reception for the touchdown to keep Green Bay alive.

It wasn’t enough in the end with the Packers going down and departing for Washington where they will face the Redskins. Minnesota will host the Seahawks.

Both the Packers and Vikings have a 10-5 record and are guaranteed a playoffs berth, but there is still plenty on the line.

One of the toughest rivalries in the league, the NFC North battle will be lively, with home-field advantage and the division title to play for.

The Vikings may choose to tank the game however if results go their way and the Seahawks lose to rivals Arizona Cardinals.

Minnesota have the fifth seed in the playoffs, which currently sees them meet the 8-7 Redskins, an easy-beat franchise. If they decide to contest the Packers however, they will meet Seattle and face the risk of losing in the first week – unless the Seahawks defeat Arizona, in which case Green Bay and the Vikings will meet again, this time in Minneapolis.

The key for the Vikings is star running back Adrian Peterson, who is first in the league for rushing yards this season with a total of 1418. Minnesota are 7-0 when the Sooners graduate rushes for over 100 yards in a game, and given he has been in rare form in recent weeks, it is tipped AP will have a big game.

The Vikings will also be hoping for their defence to continue their hot form and stop the Packers’ inconsistent offence.

Aaron Rodgers was sacked eight times last week in Green Bay’s 30-point loss to the Cardinals. He has been the victim of 41 sacks this season, the fifth-most of any quarterback in the league, and faces the threat of even more with Vikings Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter taking eight-and-a-half and six sacks respectively.

Prediction
The Vikings defence will stop Rodgers’ Packers in their tracks, ending Green Bay’s four-year streak as NFC North division champions.

Vikings by 3.
