The Warriors suffered just their third loss of the season yesterday when they went down 110-112 against the Denver Nuggets, though they’re still comfortably on top of the Western Conference with the best record in the NBA (36-3).
All three of their losses have come on the road so far this season too so even disregarding the respective positions of the teams on the Western Conference table they’ve got good reason to believe they can bounce back as they host this fixture.
While the Warriors are at the top of the Western Conference the Lakers are at the very bottom and their 9-31 record this season is the second worst in the NBA, ahead only of the Philadelphia 76ers (4-36).
That said the Lakers have won four of their last ten and come into this match with a win in their last fixture, a home victory over the New Orleans Pelicans (91-95).
All things considered, given where both teams are at on the Western Conference table it’s a little amusing that the Lakers rather than the Warriors are the ones coming into this fixture off the back of a win.
The Warriors haven’t lost two in a row so far this season, and they’re not the kind of team who are going to do so very often. This will be the third time they’ve played the Lakers so far this season and they’ve won both of the matches preceding this one.
Prediction: The Warriors should have no trouble getting back on the horse at home against the Lakers. Recent form means little when there’s this much of a gap in performance between two sides. Warriors by 20.
