Night three at the 2016 Australian Open gets under way with what looks to be one of the harder matches to predict. It’s be fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska taking on Canadian Eugenie Bouchard. Join The Roar for live scores from 7pm (AEDT).

The fourth seed Radwanska will be even more confident of progressing a long way through the Australian Open considering the sheer volume of upsets. That includes second seed, Simona Halep who was knocked out in straight sets.

In Randwanska’s first round match, she was able to record an easy-as-you-like straight sets victory over Christina McHale. Only dropping five games across the two sets, she dominated and kept up the form she held during the approach to the Australian Open.

She decided to skip matches in Australia, instead going to Shenzhen and winning all five matches she played in straight sets. While the quality of opposition was not what she will face in upcoming matches, it was still good for her to confirm that she is in form and playing quality tennis.

While she has never won an Australian Open, or a grand slam for that matter, the Australian Open is her most consistent with it being six years since she was knocked out before the fourth round.

Bouchard meanwhile was in similar form in the lead up to the Australian Open. She participated in the Hobart International, making it all the way to the final of the event before going down to Alize Cornet.

Interestingly, Bouchard has only played in two Australian Opens making the quarter and semi-finals. At just 21 years of age, she hasn’t won a grand slam but it really doesn’t look to be far away. In saying that, she had some early knock outs in the French Open and at Wimbledon last year.

In the first round, Bouchard managed to record a fairly comfortable straight sets victory over Aleksandra Krunic.

The pair have matched up twice before, and Randwanska certainly holds the edge having won both games, the most recent in straight sets. Their first meeting in 2013 was on the hard court, and won by Randwanska in three sets.

Prediction
It’s not an easy one to predict that’s for sure. Both players are immensely talented, however with the sheer volume of upsets that have occurred so far, and the fact that Radwanska holds the edge in their past two encounters, she should be able to hold on in a close one.

Radwanska in three sets.
