The Warriors are edging closer to breaking the Chicago Bulls of 1996’s all-time best NBA season record. It stands of course at 72 wins and 10 losses, with the Warriors currently holding a record of 68 wins and seven losses.

What all that means is that the Warriors only have seven games to go, and if they win five of them they can break the record. With every passing game it is looking more and more likely that will happen, although this is one match they would have identified as a dangerous one.

It’s little wonder the Warriors would be confident though, with five of their seven games to come at home where they have still not lost this year, taking the record to 36 and 0.

The Warriors come into this one having won six straight, although mainly against the lower-ranked teams and so it is going to be difficult to get a true read on their form until they play the San Antonio Spurs twice in the next week.

The Celtics meanwhile hold a record of 43 wins and 32 losses and sit in sixth place of the Eastern Conference. Despite the fact their record doesn’t read as well as one would anticipate, Boston are only half a game behind bot the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat. Leapfrogging those teams would see the Celtics catapault into the top four and a home first round final.

Despite the pressure being on the Celtics they have managed to come up with less than impressive losses in each of their last two games. They went down to the Los Angeles Clippers by 24 and Portland Trail Blazers by seven, not overly worrying losses but the way they lost certainly will concern them.

The matches saw a lack of effort on the defensive end, and that badly hurt their production on the offensive end.

The sides have matched up once so far this season, with that meeting – played at the TD Garden in Boston – descending into overtime. Stephen Curry would sink 38 points and make eight assists, while Draymond Green would chip in with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

The pair had a massive impact on the overtime period, and the Warriors would pull the road game out of the fire by five points.

Prediction
The Celtics look patchy, particularly on the road and it is hard to see them beating the best team in the NBA, even if they rest a few.
