It’s sure to be hostile at the Adelaide Oval when the Geelong Cats do battle with hometown heroes the Adelaide Crows. Join The Roar from 7:50pm (AEST) for all the action.

Get ready for a fiery opening – we might just hear the biggest “boo” of the decade when ex-Crow Patrick Dangerfield first gets his hands on the Sherrin.

The Adelaide faithful weren’t happy when the superstar left the City of Churches, and they are most definitely going to let him know about it. Gotta love it.

Losing Dangerfield was meant to hurt the Crows, yet so far his absence has been covered seamlessly, with new coach Don Pyke guiding the team into sparkling form. They’ve five wins to their name and three losses – and with an averaging losing margin of just nine points, it’s plain to see just how competitive this Adelaide side is.

Their forward line is one of the most dangerous in the game and will take a mighty effort to subdue. Sam Jacobs and Rory Sloane are two of Adelaide’s best and will need to make their mark against tough opposition if the Crows are to take the points.

Only one change has been made for the Crows, with David Mackay (hamstring) being replaced by young gun Wayne Milera.

Geelong having handed West Coast a good old hometown hiding. The Cats are well and truly back, being led brilliantly by skipper Joel Selwood after a somewhat lean 2015.

Rhys Stanley and Mark Blicavs are also causing plenty of headaches with their mix of athletic talent, strength and skill.

The Cats have lost Lincoln McCarthy and Nakia Cockatoo to injury, with Jed Bews and Cory Gregson the replacements.

It’s the Cats’ first time playing the Crows at the Oval, but their three games against Port at the venue have wielded two wins.

Both teams look evenly matched, with the game set up for a true matchwinning individual performance. Taylor Walker is due for a big outing, and if it comes tonight you’d think that Adelaide will emerge as winners.

As for the Cats, all eyes will be on Dangerfield – and after the initial dust has settled, he’ll undoubtedly be looking to prove himself against his old mates with a monster outing.

Two form teams, Friday night, what more could you ask for?

Prediction
Going against the trend here – despite how great the Crows have been, I have a feeling the Cats might get over there and towel ’em up.

Geelong by 40.
