David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez will do battle in Round 3 at the French Open. Join The Roar for the live scores from the match, starting around 8.30pm (AEST).

Both players have only dropped the one set through their first two matches so far and so should both come in with relatively good fitness levels. The Battle of Spain will be on full display for the 16th time and should be an engrossing encounter. Ferrer holds the 9-6 edge over his fellow countryman.

Ferrer breezed through his first round encounter and after dropping the first set in his second round match he got his game into gear and rolled through the final three sets.

Lopez did things the other way to Ferrer, dropping a set in his first round match-up before breezing through the second round in straight sets.

Ferrer has made a name for himself throughout his career as a bit of a warrior and one who is more than happy to be involved in a dog fight. He’ll need to rely on all of those abilities to get beyond Lopez tonight.

The taller left-handed Lopez will need to be on top of his game tonight if he wants any hope of advancing to the fourth round.

Prediction
I have been a big fan of the way Ferrer goes about his game however I can’t go past a left-hander. Lopez hasn’t beaten Ferrer since 2009 but I’m predicting that’ll end tonight.

Lopez in 5 sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4)
