A quarter-final spot will be on the line for Tomas Berdych and the ‘Prince of Clay’ David Ferrer when the pair clash in a battle of the top seeds. Join The Roar for live scores from around 9:30pm (AEST).

2013 French Open finalist David Ferrer has had a good start to the tournament having dropped just one set on his way to the fourth round.

The world No.11 defeated Evgeny Donskoy in the first round in straight sets, dropping just three games before experiencing a first set scare against Juan Monaco, eventually going onto defeat the Argentine.

More recently, Ferrer defeated Feliciano Lopez with an emphatic 6-4, 7-6, 6-1 victory.

He has had a good lead-up to Roland Garros with third round finishes at Madrid and Rome as well as a semifinal exit to Marin Cilic at Geneva.

It has resulted in Ferrer winning seven of his last ten matches with the clay-court specialist tipped to set up a possible match-up with world No.1 Novak Djokovic who will be desperate to claim his first title in Paris having finishing second best on three occasions.

Tomas Berdych, on the other hand has also had a good lead-in to Roland Garros.

The Czech world No.8 went one better at Madrid finishing in the quarter-finals while having a third round exit at Rome and a loss to Damir Dzumhur in the second round of Monte Carlo.

Berdych has reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros just twice throughout his career after finishing in the fourth round at the hands of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga last year in a four set contest.

He has so far knocked out Vasek Pospisil, Malek Jaziri and Pablo Cuevas having dropped just two sets along the way.

The pair have clashed a total 13 occasions with just one meeting coming this year at Madrid where Berdych defeated Ferrer 7-6, 7-5 to progress to the quarter-finals and be knocked out by eventual runner-up Andy Murray.

It was their fifth meeting on clay and their first since way back in 2006. His win earlier this month saw him take a 3-2 lead between the pair on clay.

The winner will meet either first seed Novak Djokovic or Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut.

Prediction
This match will come right down to the wire. It could go either way however, I see Tomas Berdych advancing.
