Match preview:

The Melbourne Storm are after a crucial win when they host the Penrith Panthers at AAMI Park. Join us here on The Roar for all the action from 7:30pm (AEST).

Despite many writing off the Storm this year, they have started just as well as ever to sit second on the ladder, with nine wins and just two losses.

This strong start will come in handy as they enter a stretch that is traditionally tough for Craig Bellamy’s men with Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith set to be busy with Queensland duties.

But one thing we have learnt about Melbourne is to never write them off, and this Round 13 clash will be no different as they try for their sixth win in a row.

2016 has been an underwhelming season for the Penrith Panthers so far, sitting in eighth spot after a slow start to the season. Although it was two weeks ago now, the Panthers will come out with a point to prove after a disappointing loss to the Titans.

The upcoming State of Origin period will be a new experience for the Panthers, with captain Matt Moylan and winger Josh Mansour both playing for New South Wales, but in a positive sign for Penrith fans, they have been named to back up.

In team news, Cronk and Smith will be rested after Origin, with Tohu Harris to slot in at halfback and Kenny Bromwich wearing No.9. For the Panthers, James Segeyaro has been dropped, while Peta Hiku (ACL) and James Fisher-Harris (broken thumb) will both miss through injury. This means Tyrone Peachey will start in the halves, Peter Wallace is wearing 9, Waqa Blake starts at centre, and Chris Grevsmuhl will make his Panthers debut off the bench.

Head-to-head the Storm own the overall advantage 23-7, while another statistic working in their favour is the fact the Panthers have never won a game at AAMI Park.

Prediction
The tough Origin period for the Storm has now begun. No Cronk or Smith tips the advantage in favour of the Panthers, whose Origin players are backing up.

Panthers by four points.
