The Adelaide Crows have consolidated their spot in top eight after a come-from-behind 29-point win over the West Coast Eagles at Domain Stadium.

A scoreless final term by the home side saw them cough up the 12-point lead that they held at three-quarter time.

The visiting Crows capitalised on a slow start by the Eagles to jump away to an early lead as Eddie Betts and Josh Jenkins looked dangerous.

The Eagles soon righted the ship and began hitting the scoreboard at regular as Josh J Kennedy began to stamp his authority on the game. This saw the Eagles jump out to a 17-point lead at quarter time.

The Crows started the second stanza strongly and had a lot of inside 50s but they struggled to capitalise on the weight of possession.

Despite finishing with just over half the amount of inside 50s that the Crows had, each time the Eagles went forward they looked dangerous. The dominance by Matt Priddis and Luke Shuey also saw them getting a lot of scoring shots from stoppages.

A goal to Josh Hill who had floated forward just before half time increased the lead to 19 points at the main break.

After a chance to regroup both sides came out firing in the second half and when Liam Duggan goaled it looked as if the Eagles were beginning to kick away. But the Crows soon responded through Mitch McGovern, who despite having a tough night up to that point snapped truly.

Two late behinds to the Crows reduced the margin to just 12 points in favour of the Eagles at the final break.

With a crucial four points on the line and a chance to go two games clear of the bottom eight, whatever Don Pyke said to the Crows players seemed to have a profound effect as they ran rampant in the final term.

In a great sign for the Crows their leaders stepped up under pressure and delivered, while the Eagles struggled to build any passages of attack.

Goals to Jenkins and Betts leveled the scores just six minutes into the term and the Crows never looked back. When Rory Atkins goaled in the 21st minute to increase the lead to 21 points it was virtually game over.

The visitors eventually ran away with a 29-point win after a match sealing goal by Walker.

Adam Simpson and his coaching staff will have their work cut out this week figuring out what happened in the final stanza and how they can bounce back.

The win sees the Crows go to sixth spot on the ladder and if the Giants lose tomorrow to Sydney they will stay in that place.

After their first loss at home this season, the Eagles fall to eighth spot on the ladder, just four points clear of Port Adelaide in ninth spot.

The Eagles will have a great chance to rebuild some confidence when they face the Lions at the Gabba in round 13, while the Crows will be looking to make the most of the bye.

Adelaide Crows 15.15 105

The Roar’s AFL MVP votes
The votes for this one were tough after such a back and forth contest, but these three players were the most important in deciding the result of the game.

Five goals, nine score involvements, five marks and three tackles is how Eddie Betts’ stat line finished after a typical match winning performance by the small forward.

If the Eagles had gotten the win it’s safe to say Matt Priddis would have been a chance for best on ground as the former Brownlow Medallist racked up 29 disposals, seven score involvements, 12 tackles and eight clearances.

Scott Thompson went head to head with Priddis all night and the fact that he tallied 24 disposals, four score involvements, 12 tackles and six clearances means he gets one vote.

3 – Eddie Betts (Adelaide Crows)
