Novak Djokovic continues his Wimbledon title defence on Centre Court when he takes on the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. Join The Roar for live scores from midnight AEST.

The world No.1 will be glad to be playing under the roof with rain hitting the tournament Tuesday and also a strong possibility on Wednesday.

Djokovic looked to be cruising on Monday when he won the first nine games against James Ward. The home favourite showed some fight in earning a second-set tiebreak but would ultimately fall to a straight sets defeat 6-0 7-6 6-4.

The fact that the last two sets against Ward were close once again proves that Djokovic struggles to hit his stride in the opening week of grand slam tournaments.

The Serbian usually only plays as well as he needs to in order to secure victory in the opening three rounds or so. From the second week onward however, Djokovic’s game hits another gear against better opposition.

Tonight, the reigning Wimbledon champion faces an opponent who doesn’t possess any major weapons. Mannarino is a solid competitor with a decent backhand, but nothing that should trouble the ATP’s tour greatest player.

It will be the first time these two players meet and it seems unlikely that there will be any other outcome than an easy Djokovic win.

Prediction – Djokovic in straight sets.
