Australia drew first blood and England will be looking to strike back in the second ODI match in the women’s Ashes. Join The Roar for live scores and updates from 2:40pm (AEDT).

The Aussies got the win on Sunday by two wickets, earning the first two points of the series, meaning they only need a further six in order to retain the urn.

Australia held the English to 229 thanks to tight and disciplined bowling, with Ashleigh Gardner displaying beautiful flight, dip and spin to nab three wickets.

She also almost guided Australia home with a quickfire 27, an important knock as the Aussies looked as though they could fall short of the English total.

England will be hoping to fix their batting woes – Lauren Winfield, Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor all got starts but were unable to go on.

Beaumont, in particular, looked dangerous early on, timing the ball well and hitting a monster six, before throwing it away when she slammed an Ellyse Perry delivery straight down the throat of Megan Schutt.

However, Anya Shrubsole, Katherine Brunt, Natalie Sciver and Alex Hartley’s bowling kept England in the game, and held the Australian run chase out until the last over.

Prediction
The Aussies are already on top, expect them to keep their foot on England’s throats.
