Super Saturday at Wimbledon rolls on with Daria Gavrilova taking on Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the third round. Join The Roar for live scores from around 10:30pm (AEST).

Gavrilova has been in superb touch at Wimbledon this time around. After a lead-up which proved nothing, except that her form was on par with previous seasons, she has well and truly gone past her previous performances on the grass courts of the All England Club.

Before this year, a 2016 visit to the second round was her best effort, but the finally broke down that wall with an emphatic victory over Samantha Stosur on Thursday night.

After sweeping past Caroline Dolehide in the first round of the tournament, she came up against the dangerous Stosur and went cruising past her without a blemish on the record either.

The second set, which she took out 6-1 was particularly dominant, with the Russian-born Aussie using her court movement and vision to put Stosur on the post.

There is no question this should be the toughest match Gavrilova has faced so far this year at The Championships, with Sasnovich ranked at number 50.

Still, the Belarus-born talent has always struggled on the grass and to this point has won less than 50 per cent of her career matches on the surface.

Whether she can turn that around is anyone’s guess, but her form looks a lot better now than it did in the lead-up to Wimbledon. Wins over Petra Kvitova and Taylor Townsend prove she can compete with the best, but the pressure will continue to build with every passing round.

Prediction
Gavrilova is in uncharted waters at Wimbledon here, but she has the experience from other grand slams to get the better of her opponent.
