The long-awaited rematch between Australia and South Africa – after their infamous Test series earlier this year – is set to begin with the first ODI at 2:20pm (AEDT) on Sunday, November 4.
Australia’s 2018-19 season started in rough fashion, with a 1-0 Test series loss and a 3-0 T20 whitewash against Pakistan in the UAE. Playing an understrength side due to the ball-tampering suspensions, the task doesn’t get much easier with the Proteas coming to town for a three-match series, followed by a single T20.
South African have been one of Australia’s toughest ODI customers over the journey. Another 3-0 whitewash will see them become the only cricketing nation to boast a lifetime winning record against Australia in the 50-over format.
In encouraging news for Australia, however, was the Prime Minister’s XI delivering a comprehensive four-wicket victory after dismantling the visiting order with the ball.
