The 2019 Australian Open women’s singles final will see Petra Kvitova take on Naomi Osaka, with over $4 million on the line, as well as a swag of rankings points. The match will begin at 7:30pm (AEDT) on Saturday, January 26.
Hosted on Australia Day, the venue for the final will be Rod Laver Arena, with a capacity crowd expected to be on hand as two of the best players on the WTA battle it out for the right to be called the first grand slam champion of 2019.
After two tough weeks of tennis at Melbourne Park in sometimes sweltering conditions, we can only hope the final lives up to last year’s drama when Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki went the distance, playing a dramatic three-set match.
