MUST WATCH: JFM obliterates IPL bowling attack - even Bumrah! - for 15-ball 50... and keeps going
A six-laden, 27-ball 84 from Jake Fraser-McGurk to continue his outrageous debut IPL!
Just weeks after being included in the squad for the Boxing Day Test, Australian champion Peter Siddle has announced his retirement from international cricket.
The 35-year-old retires having featured in 67 Tests over the last 11 years.
He told teammates of his decision prior to Day 4 of the ongoing second Test of Australia’s series against New Zealand.
Known for his tireless approach, Siddle is 13th among Australians for most Test wickets, having claimed 221 scalps at an average of 30.66.
“The Ashes was the main goal to try and get on that touring party [and] be a part of that series,” Siddle told Fox Cricket.
“And once I ticked that off – I’d been chatting with Painey and JL throughout that series – I thought I could have done it [retired] there but the chance of maybe getting one last crack if it came up in Australia… to do it at home would’ve been nice, but I can be content.”
Siddle, who recently helped steer the Adelaide Strikers to victory over the Melbourne Stars, confirmed he will continue playing in the Big Bash, as well as for Victoria and in County cricket.
