Australia’s Rugby Sevens teams will be looking to shine when the Sydney Sevens kick off this weekend, with the women looking to continue their preparation for their Olympic title defence later this year. This is The Roar‘s ultimate guide to streaming the tournament online, or watching each match on your TV.
28 countries will take part across the two tournaments, with a new two-day format seeing the event take place across only February 1 and 2. Saturday’s matches will begin at 9:30am (AEDT), while Sunday’s will start at 8:45am (AEDT).
Finals will all be played on February 2, with the women’s minor finals to be played before the men’s until both finals are played back-to-back to finish off the tournament from 8:26pm (AEDT).
The reigning champions for both men’s and women’s are New Zealand, the men thrashing the United States 21-5 in the Final to cap off a dominant campaign, while the women were even more emphatic, toppling Australia 34-10.
While the Aussie women at least made the final, the men finished a lowly sixth, beaten by Fiji in the quarter-final before losing the fifth-place game to South Africa.
Fox Sports are the sole TV rights holders for the Sydney Sevens tournament – they will cover all matches, beginning from 9:30am (AEDT) on Saturday and 8:45am (AEDT) on Sunday.
Matches will be broadcast on channel 507, or Fox Sports More.
To watch every match, you will need to have a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package.
Again, Foxtel is your only option to stream the tournaments from your mobile phone or preferred device.
