We head back to Randwick this Saturday for a big ten-race card, headlined by the Group Two Villiers Stakes. I don’t mind the day after my early look and hopefully I can build on last week’s win and extend my lead over the house. Eleven units this week.

Dixie’s 2020 tally
Units bet: 508
Units won: 585.30
Stats are based on one unit being equal to a $1 win bet New South Wales dividends. See the comments for any changes based on scratchings or track condition.

Randwick selections

Race 3 – 12 Selburose (one unit)
I’m happy to watch the Highways early and start in the third race of the day.

Selburose has been in good form and might just be at her best on a dry track. I expect her to lead Malkovich considering the draw, hopefully they don’t overdo it. They’ll both be hard to get past. Ballistic Lover shapes to sit just off them and have last crack.

Race 4 – 6 Stockman (one unit)
Stockman rates on top in the distance race, he’s been all around it carrying big weights in much lower grade. He drops down to 54 kilograms here and is right in it. My old mate Accountability rates well again with a similar weight drop. Can’t have Significance on the back-up after he filled my pockets last Saturday, he rises five class levels and gets no weight benefit.

Race 6 – 9 Jay Jay D’ar (one unit)
I’ve stuck with a few old favourites today (sorry Accountability). Good old Jay Jay D’ar won for us at a big price in September and comes into this more fit after her first-up run. She loves dry tracks, and at double figures, I think she’s worth a plunge. Threeood meets JJD three kilograms worse for beating her last time. I’m very scared of Tailleur fresh, but at even money, I’m happy where I am. Starla looks a good chance too.

Race 7 – 8 Inanup (three units)
Another one of mine, Inanup has come back well with two good efforts this preparation. He’s 4 from 11 on good tracks and 4 from 14 at 1200 metres. Jay Ford is a +1 (see my bio), yes from me. Spaceboy and Southern Lad are rated next best but a bit of a gap from Inanup.

Race 8 – 12 Through the Cracks (two units)
Through the Cracks let me down last time out, coming from too far back. He was very good late, though, and I’m going to give him one last chance. Don’t let me down fella! He’s rising in class again but has an X-factor.

Going pretty wide in any exotics here, Best of Days and Berdibek are overs and Reloaded is in the numbers too. Criaderas is a nice horse but happy to risk here with no weight advantage from previous runs.

Race 9 – 15 Kirwan’s Lane (two units)
Mr O’Shea has tried Kirwan’s Lane up to 2000 metres recently. I like him back to the mile here where he’s 3 from 7. He should be rock-hard fit and will be running on with no weight on his back.

New Arrangement and Spirit Ridge rated well and their prices are justified, so hopefully there’s a bit of speed for my boy.

Race 10 – 16 Dream Circle (one unit)
Finishing with a bit of a speculator.

Dream Circle has been one or two lengths off them this prep. He gets another good draw in this race and is back at his best distance of 1400 metres (where he’s got two of his three wins).

Dry track might be a good thing despite his record, and at 20/1 I’ll find out. A fresh Word for Word is interesting, Snowfire and Night of Power rate well and Promotions is a chance despite drawing a barrier closer to the Coach and Horses Hotel than the rail.

Another week, another poor barrier analogy and hopefully another profit. Good luck all and stay well.

Please fire through your barbs, best wishes and good things.
