Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart is today the focus of an NRL investigation following allegations he directed an “F-bomb” in referee Henry Perenara’s direction in the aftermath of Saturday afternoon’s loss to the New Zealand Warriors, according to The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield.
Stuart has strongly denied the allegations.
He had the following to say: “I didn’t go anywhere near him or say anything to him.
“Like 13 and a half thousand other people I was singing out and venting my frustration but it was not directed at any individual.
“I’ll always put my hand up when I’m wrong and embarrassed about it.”
The news comes after Stuart cut short his mandatory post-match press conference following the loss. The Raiders coach made a short statement then took his leave without answering any questions from the gathered media.
The NRL match review committee will review Fox League footage from the sideline before making a determination on whether a breach notice will be issued to the Canberra legend.
