The 2021 French Open begins tonight, with the prestigious tournament to run until Sunday, 13 June. The tournament has been pushed back a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike in previous years, you’ll be able to watch every single match from Paris on your preferred streaming device in 2021. Here is The Roar’s full guide to live streaming the year’s second grand slam.

All eyes will be on Ashleigh Barty as the world number one aims to win her second French Open title. Barty claimed the 2019 Suzanne-Lenglen Cup before skipping last year’s tournament amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Barty isn’t the favourite for the title, with reigning champion Iga Swiatek the pundits’ choice to start.

On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal will aim to win his 14th Roland Garros – and even more significantly, overtake Roger Federer with a record 21st grand slam title.

How to live stream and watch the 2021 French Open

Live stream online
Recently, the French Open has been predominantly shown on Fox Sports, with special matches occasionally simulcast on free-to-air channel SBS. However, they have both lost the rights in 2021, which have been snapped up by Stan Sport. Stan is a new streaming service that is now the only place in Australia to watch the French Open and Wimbledon tournaments, as well as every match of the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competition.

If you’re already a Stan subscriber, the Stan Sport add-on is just $10 extra a month; but if not, you will have to subscribe to Stan to pick up Stan Sport, which will set you back an extra $10-19 a month depending on your level of subscription.

The good news? Stan Sport will have a feed of every single match of the tournament with no ad breaks, unlike in previous years where only a chosen few matches have been shown. That gives you the choice of 128 different matches on the first two days of the tournament… manna from heaven for any tennis fan!

To access them, simply go to the Roland Garros homepage on Stan, browse through the feeds to find your game of choice, and start streaming.

They will also be providing on-demand replays, so you won’t have to burn the midnight oil to catch the big moments.

TV
The move to Stan Sport means the French Open is no longer available on Foxtel. Channel Nine, Stan’s parent company, will show select matches from 12am (AEST) through the morning, if you’re keen to stay up late to catch all the action.

Never fear, though – here at The Roar, we will provide you with all you need to know about the availability of key matches as the tournament progresses.
