Australia claimed the 2021-22 Ashes series 4-0 after a comprehensive win at the fifth and final Test in Hobart.

At one stage England was 0 for 68 chasing 271 but in the blink of an eye went from an outside chance of winning to losing inside three days.

The feeble way England lost their next 10 wickets summed up the series with only captain Joe Root unlucky to get a low shooter off the deck.

Finishing the series like that was a blow to England who showed some fight in the previous Test.

Wicketkeeper Sam Billings was solid without being amazing but he did do a role behind the stumps and kept England’s spirits up. He was perhaps part of the reason why guys like Mark Wood didn’t completely self-destruct after being blasted around the park by Travis Head and Cam Green.

Instead, Wood continued to dig in the short stuff and he was rewarded with a couple of wickets in the first innings before taking six in the second. Wood and Jofra Archer will be a force to be reckoned with when both are fit and will significantly improve England’s bowling lineup.

Stuart Broad also has to get a mention for another solid performance. He was the only one that looked like taking wickets in the second session onslaught of Day 1. He was at his angry best and even gave a shout out to the Fox rover on the boundary.

Travis Head and Cam Green got the highest votes by Roar readers. It’s a great sign for Green that he’s gone from someone who looked to be expendable early in the series to one of the players of the series.

Green will be vital to the team in the tour to Pakistan where it will be all hands on deck to rotate bowlers in the hot and humid conditions.

As for Nathan Lyon, he did club cricketers proud by not getting a bowl and batting 11. He got 6 from Roar readers for his 31 with the bat. We think that’s fair enough as it’s not like he had a choice on whether he bowled or not and 31 is impressive by a no.11. Well played Gaz!

Thanks everyone who voted throughout the series.
