Australia will play their first Test match in Pakistan since 1998 when they take on the hosts at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi from March 4 to March 8.

We’ve got all the information you need on how to watch live on TV or stream it online so you won’t miss a ball with the first session due to begin on Friday at 4pm AEDT.

There is both tension and excitement surrounding this Test series with several nations refusing to tour Pakistan due to security concerns after the Sri Lankan team bus was ambushed in 2009 in a fatal terrorist attack. Australia themselves cancelled their 2004 tour to Pakistan after an attack on a church in Lahore. Both New Zealand and England were due to travel to Pakistan in 2021 but each side pulled out of their tours.

The tour has added significance for Australia with it being the first competitive play for the side since Justin Langer resigned after he and Cricket Australia were unable to agree terms on a new contract. There has been plenty of discussion about the roles of the players in Langer’s leaving and interim coach, Andrew McDonald, will know that the best way to move forward is to win on the pitch.

The tour is a special one for Usman Khawaja who was born in Islamabad, close to where the first Test will be played in Rawalpindi. He hasn’t been to the country since 2010 and explained in a recent interview the significance of the tour.

“The fact I’m playing in Pakistan is special, don’t me wrong, it’s very special, something I’ve always want to do. I grew up down the road,” said Khawaja.

This is the first Test of a three Test series with the teams then scheduled to play three ODIs and a T20.
