Wallabies stars Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell are on track to play before a club rugby world record crowd when France’s Top 14 final is contested at Barcelona’s Camp Nou.
The final is usually held in the Stade de France in Paris but has been switched to Barcelona FC’s 98,000-capacity venue this year as the French national stadium is being used for the European soccer championships.
Tournament organisers say all currently available tickets have been sold for the showpiece match on June 24.
It will be the first rugby game to take place at the Camp Nou and the crowd is expected to eclipse the previous club record attendance of 84,068, for an English Premiership match between Saracens and Harlequins at Wembley last March.
Giteau and Mitchell play for star-studded Toulon who are running second in the Top 14, five points behind Clermont, with six weeks of the regular season remaining before the playoffs.
While organisers said the final was a sell-out, a number of seats have been held back for the fans of the two teams who reach the final.
