COMMENT: Bizarre selection call that sums up chaos and disconnect at Super Rugby's biggest basket case

Now that you’ve missed the rights for the 2026 football World Cup, Australians should be bidding for the Rugby World Cup in 2027 or 2031. With the next three RWC already picked (New Zealand, England and Japan) and the 2023 RWC most likely going to South Africa or Italy, 2027 would be a great time for Australia to host another RWC.
It would also be a way to show FIFA how great the 2026 World Cup could have been.
With the way rugby is being played at the moment, having a RWC this year shown in prime-time on FTA and a British and Irish Lions Tour in 2012, it’s the perfect time to start drumming up support for the bid.
With the RWC being on a much smaller scale, and stadiums like Suncrop, Skilled park, Dairy Farmers Stadium in Queensland, SFS, ANZ Stadium, Energy Australia Stadium in NSW, Canberra Stadium in Canberra, AAMI Park, MCG, Etihad in Victoria, Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide and Members Equity Bank Stadium in Perth, there’s no need to build new ones, which would keep the cost down.
The IRB do not require other sporting competitions, such as NRL or AFL, to stop during the event, and with the IRB looking at moving the RWC to October anyway, it would minimize the disruption to their seasons and should keep them both happy.
Also with the success of both the Sydney Olympics, 2003 RWC and the Wallabies standing in world rugby, your chances are a lot higher than what FFA’s will ever be.
