ANZAC Day’s AFL action begins in Tasmania when Hawthorn host Sydney in a clash that could already be a finals-shaper. Join The Roar for live scores, coverage and analysis from 12:30pm (AEST).

The Hawks’ stirring Easter Monday win over Geelong wasn’t without cost. They’ve been forced to make five changes to the side that stunned the Cats – ruckman Ned Reeves did a shoulder during the game, while all of Changkuoth Jiath, Tom Phillips and Mitch Lewis have pulled up sore in the aftermath.

Jiath’s game-breaking run off half-back will be sorely missed, while Lewis, the Hawks’ leading goalkicker after five rounds, will be hard to replace in attack.

Chad Wingard returns from a calf injury, while former Pie Max Lynch steps in as the Hawks’ last ruckman standing, having been concussed during his club debut in Round 1. Defender Will Day is also back from his own concussion in Round 4.

While the Hawks have surprised many with their strong start to 2022, the Swans had loftier expectations of them, which so far they’ve met comfortably.

4-1 and only percentage outside the top four, the Swans are in great shape, and are boosted by the return of Lance Franklin from a badly broken finger.

It has been almost 10 years to the day since the Swans last played the Hawks in Launceston; however, they did play their elimination final loss to GWS last year here, so should be familiar with the ground.
