I think they will leave him out in Melbourne and Hobart as well. Doherty will probably play in Sydney, Adelaide and Auckland. The rest I would go with Cummins.

Australia should use Maxwell as sole spinner

Maxwell shouldn’t of been out. I think WC has DRS so he would have stayed in. May I add that Maxwell took 5 catches and Doherty dropped one.
Maxwell allows 4 quicks to play.

Australia should use Maxwell as sole spinner

Yeah Mark Waugh did suggest that Shaun Marsh or Cameron White will be Clarke’s replacement and Marsh probably is the like for like player to Clarke except he is a leftie.
I would have Marsh over bailey right now but that won’t happen because Bailey will be skipper.

Australia should use Maxwell as sole spinner

He looked very capable at 3 in Zimbabwe. Hopefully he can be a test no 3 in a couple of years.

Australia should use Maxwell as sole spinner

“Not one mention of Pakistani spinner Herath”
Herath is Sri Lankan
don’t get your facts wrong if you want to critisise others.

Commentary crisis: Ten now comes before Nine

This is how to fit M Marsh in
Drop one of Finch and Watson
I would go Finch which is harsh considering how well he has played in ODI cricket recently . However this year he is out of form.
Watson goes up to open and Marsh bats 3. He did well there against South Africa and Zimbabwe.
So side looks like this
Warner
Watson
M Marsh
Smith
Clarke/Bailey
Maxwell
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Starc
Cummins/Hazelwood/Doherty

You have a very strong deep batting lineup and lots of bowling options.

Australia should use Maxwell as sole spinner

They had Hoggy on sometimes. He was good.

Commentary crisis: Ten now comes before Nine

What?
Basil is the worst commentator I have ever heard. Makes James Brayshaw sound good.
Basil’s West Coast eagles bias makes me cringe.

Commentary crisis: Ten now comes before Nine

If Rogers, Hadds, Rhino and Clarke are all unavailable I would go for this side
1. Warner (vc)
2. Bancroft
3. Burns
4. Smith (c)
5. S Marsh
6. M Marsh
7. Whiteman
8. Johnson
9. Pattinson
10. Behrendorff
11. Lyon
12th: Hazelwood.

Who will wear the baggy green post-Ashes?

He is there best player. Pick your best XI. Most of KPs old sparring partners are gone. I think the only reason that the ECB picked Moores as coach is because he hates KP. A better coach would put aside differences to play the best possible players of which KP is definitely included.

No place for KP in England team: Morgan

As long as Channel 10 get rid of that goose Tim Gossage they will be great. I just cant listen to him he is hopeless.

The rest of 10s commentary is excellent. Waugh, Ponting and Gilly are all great and the banter they have is clever and funny, unlike 9s.

Then throw in the likes of Viv Richards, KP, Freddie and Bumble who have all been brilliant to listen to there perspectives. It is something that nine hardly ever do is include international commentators. Was there a single indian commentator on nine? Yes Ravi Shastri came on at lunch once or twice but didnt commentate.

Lastly adding Mel and Ros to the broadcast provides good eye candy.

Commentary crisis: Ten now comes before Nine

Same here.

Commentary crisis: Ten now comes before Nine

Agree with you, often Finch does look shaky and its big score or not much. However statistics say that he is safe so it is Watson and Bailey under the most pressure.

Who makes way for a fit Michael Clarke?

Maxwell probably has had a pressure release from the PM XI game. Watson and Bailey are the ones most under pressure and need a big score. If one of those two was to be dropped Wattos bowling would keep him in front of Bailey but both need runs.
The best scenario is for Michael Clarke to be pulled out and be replaced by Adam Voges or Cam White who can be reserve batsmen.

Who makes way for a fit Michael Clarke?

Behrendorff for me cant argue with form.
Pattinson is looking good though.

Revisiting my five fearless predictions before the Test summer

Yes he did well in zimbabwe. For this to happen do you drop Watson or do you drop Finch and promote Watto to open. I would go the latter.

Clarke must stand down, or there's a World Cup shambles ahead

Look at the pitches they played on. If there was any life in them Johnson and Harris would have torn India apart.

Clarke must stand down, or there's a World Cup shambles ahead

Faulkner is the best all rounder of the three. If you have been watching closely you would see that of Faulkner, Maxwell and Marsh it is Faulkner who has the best batting average of 44.6 and the best bowling average of 32. Thats brilliant for a guy that bats at 8. He has a variety of slower ball and yorkers that will be crucial at the death and he is the best finisher we’ve had since Michael Bevan.

The no 6 spot is between Marsh and Maxwell. Marsh is the safer option with the bat but Maxi adds variety with the ball. I think Steve Smith is an underrated spinner and could play Maxwells role as a holding spinner. Marsh for me.

Clarke must stand down, or there's a World Cup shambles ahead

Well Ashwin looked much better than Suresh Raina at the crease.
India probably should have played Jadeja and Ashwin cos they can both bat.
Kumar may be a good bat but he bowls 10ks slower than Shane Watson. I have guys in under 17s bowling quicker than Kumar. He is not quick enough to have success.
I heard Terry Aldermann on the radio say that to be a successful bowler in Australia you need two of Pace, Bounce and Swing.
Kumar only has Swing and at his pace it isn’t difficult to face on pitches that aren’t greentops.

Test bowlers must be able to bat

I think your right but the exception is someone like Glenn McGrath who was a bunny but one of our best ever bowlers.
I agree if two bowlers are of the same quality the one that bats better should get the nod, however they are still first and foremost a bowler and if the best bowler cant handle a bat still pick him and at the same time help him bat a bit better.

This hasnt really been a big issue for Australia as most of our best bowlers have been handy bats even back to Lillee.
If we look over the last few years Lee, Warne, Gillespie, Siddle, Johnson and Harris have all been pretty good with the bat.

Test bowlers must be able to bat

Voges failing to make an impact?????

Only the second highest shield run scorer with an average of over 100 this year, scored two half centuries in the BBL and also scored runs in the Matador Cup.
not only this but he has captained WA to the matador cup victory and could well be doing the same with the scorchers.
Plus he is a very handy spinner.

What more does he have to do to make an impact?

Can you pick a better World Cup squad?

Bailey has done well as skipper I see no reason why he cant do it. There is also Steve Smith as well.
Bailey is shown he is good enough as a batsman and is in our best XI.
Clarke shouldn’t be rested.
I really think Behrendorff is quality and should have been included, he has well and truly outbowled Cummins in domestic one day cricket and the BBL.
this is the side I would have chosen
Warner
Watson
Smith
Voges
Bailey
M Marsh
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Behrendorff
Lyon

Can you pick a better World Cup squad?

So you wouldn’t play Faulkner who has saved the Aussies time and time again and is also the best death bowler we have. One of Marsh and Maxwell have to miss out and I would feel much more confident seeing Marsh walk out if we were 4/50 than Maxwell.

My XI
Warner
Finch
Watson
Smith
Clarke/Bailey
Marsh
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Starc
Cummins/Hazelwood/Doherty

I really dont think we need a spinner, Smith and Finch and Clarke (if fit) can all bowl spin.
Perhaps at Auckland and maybe Sydney Doherty should play otherwise 4 quicks.

Clarke must stand down, or there's a World Cup shambles ahead

They were absolute roads, even the great west indian quicks would have struggled to take lots of wickets on those pitches.

Clarke must stand down, or there's a World Cup shambles ahead

Yeah the QF that Australia plays in is at Adelaide.

Clarke must stand down, or there's a World Cup shambles ahead
