With the amount of controversy these days with code-swapping in the NRL some light needs to be shared on which players would actually do…
I know it’s big its an opinion poll so if I leave someone out, someone else will have a problem. But on the other hand I do the selections this year are very wide open.

also im pretty sure kieran read isn’t a lock mate
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
This squad was before the World Cup, HENCE THE TITLE
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
i see the reasoning behind picking players on form but the test arena is completely different and the challenges that confront players are far superior than super rugby. The game against samoa is good example of this. To save face for the wallabies and avoid an embarassing loss, i think it would be better to only draft in players slowly as they are needed, definitely an opportunity but precise care needs to be taken. In regards to genia, its hard to blame him 100% for his performance. The forwards have been shoddy and i think he’s been lacking confidence to play his natural game and i think he’ll get back to his best in the next few weeks. It is good to such a great amount of players pushing for selection, same with the kiwis as well. Also like to add bernard foley into the mix
Come on Robbie, some lateral thinking
pretty good team there. instead of having both McCullum and Sangakkara i’d move McCullum to 7 and put an explosive pace allrounder in someone like albie morkel, abdul razzaq, kieron pollard is probably the biggest hit and miss at the moment and should captain the side haha.
Selecting cricket's 'World hit-or-miss XI'
I’m still confused why Stirling Mortlock was never considered after he came back from injury. Obviously he’s too old now but the way he used to play is exactly who we need. I think NZ are so selfish not picking Robbie Fruean in the WC squad, Australia need a player the same size as him, but improved defence
Wallabies should leave the stars at home
I completely agree with this although i think it might be a considerable risk to take so many rookies over there against seasoned test professionals, esp the Baa Baas. if rugby had more competetion involving countrie’s ‘A’ teams like in cricket it would improve the quality of rugby all over the world and not just Australia. Which isn’t really what we personally want but if Robbie could get an ‘A’ team together and get them to play games against Top 14 teams, English Premiership teams, and smaller countries it would give us a great advantage.
To do with the selections, as you asked for opinions, for arguments sake i would select a few more players in an extended squad.
They would be Ben Daley, Matt Toomua, Rory Sidey, Jarrod Saffy as you said, Tom carter is 28 but i still think he deserves a chance, Liam Gill, Henry Speight. I would move Sam Wykes to the starting team, Hanson to the bench.
I really hope so up-and-coming centres get a go so we can get a good roll onto to RWC 15 and just a good centre pairing in general. AAC is good and deserves to play for Australia but he doesnt have an x-factor at all. It looks like Horne will end up moving there but a tour like this could show this very well.
Wallabies should leave the stars at home
OK well instead of just telling me who obviously isnt good enough, who would you have replace them? Actually what would your team be?
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
Thanks for all your opinions guys, sorry for some miss information as i dont watch any northern hemisphere rugby and im only 14 haha 🙂
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
yes same here, i had to research most of the northern hemisphere players
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
Not a big fan of his game, id go parisse, spies, Samo, pale over him
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
Judging by your name im surprised at your northern hemisphere bias selections. Doncha, jonny, and all the others were in my preliminary squad but I think this team has the perfect balance. Dagg probably woulda got 22 if he had played all year and genthin Jenkins is way past his best. Tuilagi definitely in a 2nd 15. But thanks for your opinions in hookers, I didn’t have much idea. Are there any other outside centres you can think of?
Time to select a pre-World Cup world XV
I wasn’t sure about kurtley brake and I probably wouldve gone for dang if he had been in the starting squad. The only other outside centre there was to picked was conrad smith and he’s not altogether ‘brilliant’ so I chose o’driscoll on the back of his huge reputation and form in the 6 nations

Mate… read the first line of the article. It’s got nothing to do with code-swapping. “This team is based on the size, temperament and attitude of the players and not necessarily their skills.” which is pretty obvious as they are basically two completely different sports
What AFL players could take on rugby league?
thats the thing i didn’t know much about him hence my surprise
Which league players would do well in union?
Dane Taylor is only 187cm tall so I don’t think he would be a lock. And he is extremely fast for a big man and would fit perfectly at No.8. If you’ve got Greg Bird at no.16 and you mean he’s a hooker i’d disagree. He’s a ball playing backrower or a big 5/8th. If he were to play in the forwards anywhere he’d be a loose forward. I was very close to choosing John Sutton but he can be very inconsistent and pretty soft sometimes. Watmough also only 80odd kilos but would be a pretty good centre.
Which league players would do well in union?
This is team is just who i reckon would be the best out of the players that are available, not actually who should go sign a contract. There are so many different factors you would have to take into consideration to decide which players would actually succeed. As in the case of Jarrod Saffy I never would’ve thought he would succeed but he has done alright. There’s no guarantee that a player will succeed in any sport, everyone knows that. Its just my opinion of from the players available that would be good at union.
Which league players would do well in union?
Good ideas there p.Tah but make sure you don’t steal my AFL to League piece i’ll be doing shortly haha
Which league players would do well in union?
I just realised i made a mistake. I meant SAM Burgess not Luke Burgess
Which league players would do well in union?
Thanks for your opinions guys. As I thought, the front row and fullback position were the most debatabe positions. Although I still think Billy would struggle in union. The tight 5 of this team I dont think would make a union team but i think the rest could and maybe do quite well with a little bit of experience. This is my first article and im only in year 10 so I hope you liked it
