DR has hinted several times that he sees Holloway in that role.

I agree

Why it's a long and winding road back to the Australian way

Absolutely Nick
The second #10 was Donnalson who was mostly bench, but started in one significant win

Why it's a long and winding road back to the Australian way

After all he was a CENTRE (#12) in our highly acclaimed u/20 side from 3 years ago. He was effectively a link man or “second five” as Kiwis say.
Of the four five eights in the squad, the first choice #10 was Harrison, second choice was Donnalson (bench and one start) third choice was Izac Lucas who played fullback.

Why it's a long and winding road back to the Australian way

From the various things I’ve read that have been attributed to DR, I think he uses words like brutality and physicality as much as any.

I think your team reflects that as well as workrate PK. When push comes to shove, I think he goes for physicality over workrate…but only just. He’ll miss Holloway (bench) who has both

Good team, well reasoned

'Work ethic, aggression and aerial battles': Using Dave Rennie's statements to predict his first Test team selection

He was a 10 in the NRC before a season at Tahs, then moving to Brums a few years ago.
He has all the skills for it, though perhaps not the brutality DR wants for a 12

Thanks NB.
Lineouts are definitely #1, but I think overall there is no connection between the backs and the forwards.

I’m not sure it is just at 5/8.
I hate to say this, because I love him as a player, but McDermott is far too slow getting it out. Not just the pass, but often he runs (and runs well), but the defence is waiting for him.
I think that when the other half back comes on, the ball moves faster and wider and the backs get a sniff.
I certainly don’t think (as some do) that Petaia, Vulavalu or Dungunu are the issue. If even more journeymen were put there, they’d be even worse.
I’d put Petaia at 12 as a one-off.
Nothing to lose

Heroes to zeroes: How will the Reds make up their red zone deficit?

Better correct the Tahs team listed.
Perese not playing…as your article states

COMPLETE SRP Round 14 teams: Noah back for Brumbies, Hoops and Ned for Tahs, Reds also boosted

That’s it almost exactly Nick

This has to happen quickly

Sort of right A.
I agree that that Tahs and Reds could have won with better luck and brains.
I think that no O’Connor cost the Reds dearly

Big effort by Slipper, switching sides, then back again, then switching again. His skills are a bit limited, but he did well with what he has.

Wallabies DIY player ratings from the Scotland Test: The results

He’s not lazy, and can tackle.
By crikey he can charge with the ball and shred tackles though. Usually at 13 this season, but 12 in a couple of earlier matches

Coach’s Corner Issue 31: Selection conundrums as Wallabies enter the Lions' jaws

OK, I’ll take your word for it, I must have got carried away!

Nonetheless, what impressed me was the ease in which he caught them.

Years ago for NSW he looked clumsy,…apart from one steal I remember, which was one handed, like catching a cricket ball

Coach’s Corner Issue 28: Can the Wallabies get even bigger?

Nick, the games I have seen Skeleton play in France he took 3 or 4 lineouts per game, and took them easily. I think his strength (not bumped) and ball skills stood out. He is quite athletic I thought…more than I used to think

Coach’s Corner Issue 28: Can the Wallabies get even bigger?

All good questions Nick

I think that if people watched a few French games they would see that not only is Skeleton much fitter now, and a lethal runner and maul stopper, but also ok in the lineout.

In the games I have watched, Skeleton takes about 3 or 4 lineouts a match, and does so easily.

Lineouts with Skeleton on the field aren’t as bigger issue as many are saying

Coach’s Corner Issue 28: Can the Wallabies get even bigger?

Yep, the team had those three #10s slotted into three run-on positions + Donnalson on the bench, and (I think) one or two other #10s in the squad.

Coach’s Corner Issue 23: Will the exiles come flooding back?

My very oblique contact at the Tahs said:
“Put it this way,…most of the guys in NSW, Qld so ACT would rather play against him than with him. They’d actually love to play against him’

'I haven't spoken to him': Wallabies lock Rodda has no regrets about walking out on Thorn

Good article Nick.

Clearly Perese can tackle.
Positioning is an issue, as is a defensive strategy for the team.

When you are in a team with about 8 other guys who are new or have no positional sense it is hard.

A decent team around him, and propose coaching, and he’ll kill em

Is it time to show the winless Waratahs some love?

That’s supposed to be a thumbs up, not question marks ????

Well done Daniel ????

Four incredible years of sport: My farewell to The Roar

Absolutely, a great all-round halfback and leader

What to look for when the hope disappears so quickly

Possibly money to be made on the weekend even if AU sides lose. Qld get 9.5 start, NSW 24.5, ACT 19.5, Rebs 16.5, Force 16.5.
Somewhere along the way there will be upsets, and certainly closer games than bookmakers think at the moment
