I totally agree. One rule for the VFL big boys and one for the rest. Port should be able to wear their prison bars. They’ve actually been around longer than Collingwood.

AFL clubs choosing tradition in aesthetics

Have you seen that ad on tv about the Darwin Ice Hockey team ? No one will pay them so they’re the champions by default.

No country would tour Pakistan it’s just not safe.

It would be wonderful if in the future Pakistan can restore order and safety.

But I would have serious doubts about sending a team there.

Imagine if you decided to send a team there and something similar happened to what the Sri Lankan team encountered in India.

Zeppelins, cassette tapes and Test cricket

Bring on the 2015 Asian Cup.

10 000 in Canberra for a dead rubber on a weekend when most people head to the coast is very good.

Loved the way AUS played albeit against weaker opposition.

Can’t wait to see the Japanese and Koreans run out to play AUS in front of a packed and noisy Suncorp or SFS.

Socceroos slay Malaysia 5-0

Where did you find those figures CA like to make it very difficult to obtain test crowd numbers.

If they are correct 34 000 per day over a tour is pretty good.

But I would like to see the numbers for say New Zealand, South Africa or India.

I would be surprised if the attendance at those tests was over 20 000 per day over the summer.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Perhaps the ‘tour’ is the way to reinvigorate test, I don’t know.

Personally I love the battle that is a 5 test series, but my issue is that we may be preaching to the converted.

The way to save test cricket is to engage new viewers and increase attendance I don’t know if fewer and longer series’ would bring in the scores of gen Y fans needed to attract sponsors and keep the best talent playing the best game.

I guess as long as people like us still care about test cricket there is always hope.

North QLD and WA would be great.

North Qld would really expand the AFL community and Cairns is very receptive to AFL.

WA is booming with the mines and the population is growing fast.

North Melbourne to move to Tassie ?

The AFL expansion experiment

Demetriou has stated that he wants a 20 team competition.

Where will the last two teams come from ?

Hobart, Launceston, Perth, Darwin, Canberra, Ballarat, Cairns ?

Personally I think Canberra and Tasmania.

The AFL expansion experiment

Promotion/Relegation does not work in Australia.

It could only work in the A-League (eventually) as the teams represent whole cities not suburbs.

Some of the Sydney teams must be moved to other locations.

Sharks to Adelaide/Perth for example would expand the Rugby League community and would retain some of the old supporters, the rest will be absorbed in time by the other clubs.

The Sydney supporters can still go to watch the 7 or 8 games played in Sydney over the course of the season and watch the rest on TV.

A second Brisbane team is a must (not the Bombers) along with a Central QLD team.

Gosford has to be strongly considered as another location, move the Roosters to Gosford perhaps.

Wellington and Christchurch must also be looked into. The NZ Toyota Cup team won the comp this season and apparently have another crop coming through just as good. The future of NRL may be across the Tasman.

A competitive 20 team league would be ideal, 19 rounds of home and away then finals.

Allows plenty of time for representative football at either end of the season.

The NRL should be creative with expansion

Ironic that the team most are tipping for the spoon are starting the shortest price favourites to win in Round 1.

Preview of round 1 A-League matches

Force play out of NIB but the season ended many months ago.

No issue there.

It's now or never for the A-League

Thanks for the scouting report Tony.

Does anyone have any info on Dani Sanchez from Wellington ?
