Personally, my eyes glaze when people use ellipses and all caps, so your problem might not be your message but the way you are sending it. But I’m not your intended audience, so I’ll bow out now. Cheers.
Edited to add: exclamation marks like picket fences. Forgot that. Them too.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

> the PEP prediction of $225m revenue although that maybe a RA number not subject to strenuous analysis by PEP.

I’ve worked for PEP. You have no idea what “strenuous analysis” means until you’ve worked for them. 😂

Often, when making a deal, we call it a “win-win”. It helps a lot when making a deal.

Can someone who has looked at the accounts say what the actual value of RA is, please? Say if it was to be liquidated or sold off? The yield PEP is getting out of RA looks like a business analyst’s dream.

No Dave. You said that development in Sydney was due to private schools only.

Oh. I read it as fact. Maybe someone should text him and ask.

$50m taken up? That happened quickly.

At least the people complaining can stop now, that its grassroots rugby Mums and Dads and club sausages sizzles and player fees which paid for WAG sendoffs and 300 sponsors and hangers-on for a few weeks in Paris. That is now clearly wrong. It’s the people who can afford $270 a seat minimum and preferably $600 who are going to pay for it all. Mums and Dads can watch at home or at a mates’ place who has subscription TV.

Hang on. Are you saying the two NSW Development Officers have zero effect? That’s quite harsh. What’s the evidence? The local bloke here in Victoria is doing a great job.

Drdbx, did you ask him, or know someone who did?

We’ve seen the rugby public, journalists, players, ex-captains, sponsors, private equity all manipulated by RA and certainly they appear to have it as one of their strengths, so why should franchise Board members miss out?

Rugby’s a different game to the 1990’s. Smarter defences, bigger players, faster, often more phases before unpicking a defence. Systems are more important and yes scoring can be done off set piece plays, that is not ruled out indeed it happens often. The challenge remains as it ever was: 15 players makes the field smaller when compared to 13, and requires a slight change in approach accordingly, and so I agree with your point that there’s a coaching problem. The comparison you made with overseas rugby coaches, Kiss being an example, is perhaps more to the point rather than comparing to the 13 code.

Australia's rugby talent is the 'best we've had since 2003' - it's time to let them flourish, not be shackled by team 'system'

To declare my interest, mine is in the aspects of “control” and “moral compass” in organisational behaviour. The more one delves into RA involvement in the Rebels, the more one sees role and responsibilities conflicts including conflicts of interest. I’d like a judge to unpick how to prioritise the mess, if only to allay my suspicion that the judge’s view about what was important would perhaps differ from the RA Board’s and CEO’s decisions and behaviour.

The extent of that control, and the decisions made, of course provide context and framework for the Rebels’ management’s own now well-documented improper behaviour.

Put another way: I see the Rebels Board as a little Russian doll, wrapped inside a big Russian doll, with the big RA doll saying to the little one, “it’s all your fault that you are in a dark place.”

Is there a sweep on this? 😁

After that scoreline, rockets are foreseeable at the Rebels’ Monday coaching session.

A rather excellent summary of the factors relevant to RA for the Rebels decision, Geoff. Perchance you’ve a background writing business analyst briefs? Succinct, clear, comprehensive.

It’s funny peculiar that the folk calling for a white knight such as Twiggy, aren’t interested in the pile of dosh the DOCA consortium want to bring to the table.

The New Zealanders have bailed out Australian rugby several times (if my father wasn’t pulling the leg of this young feller, telling me this) and there was some strange RA accounting for a large sum, $30m if memory serves me right, from NZ around the time of the pandemic. RA might have more factors to consider:

– Dirty laundry being aired. RA has been owner, employer, payroll provider, and funder of the Rebels. We’ve seen RA’s good governance *koff koff* in the 2023 World Cup campaign debacle. What RA failings will be exposed in court proceedings? Hypocrisy is not a crime, but its not a good look to be murky on Waratahs funding while vocal about selected aspects of the Rebels. Front pages are designed for this stuff. I look forward to learning how RA managed all their conflicts of interest while meantime fulfilling all their fiduciary duties.

Saving face. It’s plain that RA doesn’t want anything to do with people or organisations south of that funny VFL line (Whitten line? I’m vague on it). Perhaps to save face, RA should sell the licence to the New Zealanders. Who then could onsell or lease it to the DOCA backers.

That is an excellent result! I thought the W. Drua would come back after the lessons when they copped it against the Rebels. This is promising looking towards the World Cup. England beat France on Saturday, the standard of play was very high, it’s plenty tough out there.

I’ve heard of it too!

'Run-on debut like no other': Junior Wallabies flyer announces himself to the world after stunning hat-trick

Agreed. These things can be changed. In the few minutes of footage also I’ve not seen him fend, so can’t judge fend strength, and he does favour his right hand to carry the ball, perhaps something a left winger to work on.

This is a great comment. Drop goals are a blind spot in Australian and New Zealand coaches and teams.

Western Force 'let slip' another match in huge blow to finals hopes in one-try game - but it's not all bad news

“I missed the match. So, a low score”
“Yes, real old-school scoreline. I thought the Highlanders played the better rugby, and both teams played better than the scoreline suggests.”
“Ok. Did any kicks hit the posts? I’ve started noticing it as a thing, and as a result it seems to be happening a lot.”
“I think there was a crucial one. Also, the Highlanders perhaps helped their cause by missing a kick for points at the end. It meant they didn’t have to defend down their end of the ground in the 80th minute.”

you have it right, c o k e r – we’ve been told over and over that Super Rugby is too predictable. To the point that there’s no point in bothering to watch it

“second half probably wasn’t as consistent” gets no argument here. Thanks for the reply, and I do think the players, professionals as they are, can trust their judgement enough to deal in certainties. 😊

Side question. Why do rugby players use “probably” when discussing incontrovertible undeniable truths?

““RA maintains that the true financial state of (the Rebels) has not been disclosed to RA for some time – it was only once the company defaulted on its payment plan with the ATO last December that RA was made aware of the full state of the MRRU situation,” the [RA] statement said.

“I have evidence of the Company seeking payment arrangements from as early as May 2020 with the ATO, and October 2022 with MOPT” the Administrator said.

“2.9.3. Reasons for Company’s difficulties
My investigations indicate that the Company’s financial difficulties arose largely as a result of the following:
 A history of trading losses, exacerbated since 2020 by the negative impact on revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the reduction in annual funding distributions by RA;
 Lack of readily available alternative funding sources;
 Excessive cost structure compared to the underlying revenue base, including employee costs and player wages; and
 Insufficient revenue being generated from non-RA sources, including membership, sponsorship and game day receipts to cover increasing costs, including statutory and lease liabilities.

Mr Owain Stone, a director of the Company, has provided the following reasons for the Company’s financial difficulties:
 That the Company was at all times effectively controlled by RA as a participating club in the SRPC;
 Shortfall of funding provided by RA; and
 Reliance on RA to fund the Company’s operations and part payment of wages and salaries of players that were jointly employed by RA.”
