Completely agree about Malik in the NT. Would be perfect for any Ange side
Hapless Mariners brushed aside by dominant Reds
Jedinak is good when played in a certain way, that being as a ball-winning midfielder who does as little running and passing as possible. Thats how Pulis used him at Palace and he was brilliant, hes a shadow of who he was last season. A midfield 3 of Jedinak, Brattan/Brillante/Herd and Luongo would be perfect.
Postecoglou's way: Substance over style for Socceroos
i’d have smith over wilkinson any day of the week. He’s a vital cog in one of the greatest club teams this country has ever seen
Postecoglou's way: Substance over style for Socceroos
Speaks better English than some of the Aussie players haha!
Give him a break! Why Marc Janko is worth more than he seems
From a business perspective, it was the right move at the time. But I’m sure you’d agree that getting someone of that star power as a replacement would have been a mistake
Give him a break! Why Marc Janko is worth more than he seems
Haha thanks mate, spot on. Our starting back 5 are sufficient but if we have injuries then we might be in a bit of bother.
Give him a break! Why Marc Janko is worth more than he seems
It’ll be interesting to see. You’d imagine if he’s never played in a competition with Austria he’d be raring to go as preparation
Give him a break! Why Marc Janko is worth more than he seems
It’s called the “Hey look, Sydney are struggling lets crucify them mindlessly” effect.
Sydney FC don't need Janko
We’ll have to wait and see, I’ll be at the bonnyrigg game for his debut so you never know
Give him a break! Why Marc Janko is worth more than he seems
I’m thrilled with it, to be honest. Little concerned about his record in Turkey but I guess if he was doing well they would have renewed his contract!

Brian,
Firstly, Necevski might be shocking (we all dislike him) but Janjetovic is emphatically OF a-league standard. Not quite sure why you’re criticising his ability in the air when its so clearly one of the better aspects of his game.
I agree that Sydney seem to have ‘overfilled the gap’. However, we have got rid of players like Ranko and Chianese so its not particularly the end of the world.
It looks as though we’ll be playing a very attacking 4-3-3, with a similar defence to last season (maybe Gersbach will get a run at LB?), with a CM pairing of Grant and Antonis or Grant and Triantis, Brosque and Ibini on the wings, Carle as No.10 and Janko and Smeltz on a first XI rotation. If Arnold wants to play 2 striker, he might play 4-1-2-1-2.
As for Janko, I am a firm believer in having a marquee that is either a scorer of goals or a creator of goals. That’s something that will get bums on seats, even if he isn’t a so-called ‘big name’
Sydney FC don't need Janko
Knightblues,
How odd, your comment discusses how a particular segment of australian culture – our “she’ll be right mate” attitude – hinders our performance in football, yet you have shown yourself to be the living embodiment of what I believe is something even worse – if you’re no good at something don’t bother trying -. This is quite frankly a horrendous attitude and is something that has to be removed from our national sporting psyche. Whilst I’m here educating your good self, please refer to another article by yours truly regarding how Australians can embrace their natural ‘physical qualities’ and make them work to their benefit in football, in a similar way to how America has embraced the game in their own special way.
Why America’s development is a blueprint for Australian football
Have a nice day.
Never mind the critics, here's the Socceroos
Look, you wont find a bigger fan of Ryan than me, I strongly believe he has the tools to become a world-class modern goalkeeper. In saying that, I’ve seen him save more difficult efforts than Depay’s but as you say, he has to move on.
Never mind the critics, here's the Socceroos
Obviously it could happen, but we have to see if they get first team minutes in Serie A over the next few years. Theyre obviously for the future but I reckon its far too early to even think of considering them for NT selection.
Never mind the critics, here's the Socceroos
Sorry, have you listened to any of Ange’s correspondence in the past 7 months? If you have, then you well know that playing a forty one year old isnt exactly in his plans, even if he is the greatest aussie keeper of all time.
Never mind the critics, here's the Socceroos
Agreed, didnt think he had a defensive side to his game until he came back from injury last season, he was brilliant.
Never mind the critics, here's the Socceroos
Even as a Sydney fan, it makes me so happy that football finally has a place in oz :’)
Sydney FC fans are on the brink of desertion
Farina yesterday – “You can rest assured within the football department and the squad, I’m not aware of any problems at all,”
Today, Carle and Thompson are banished for “holding a negative attitude and making comments detrimental to the image of the club”
What a day to be a Sky Blue fan…every cloud I guess :/
Sydney FC fans are on the brink of desertion
Hypocrisy? lets see how good your sodding crowd is when you win 1 game in 9. Dullard.
Sydney FC fans are on the brink of desertion
I’m sorry but I just couldnt let this go without comment
Look, I can respect where you’re coming from but, with all due respect, your particular view of why people go to watch people is directly linked to fickle, ‘fairweather’ attendance. When its a bit rainy, you wont be there but the Cove will. When we were in last place and the attendances threatened to reach sub-10k, you mightnt have been there but the Cove was. If thats not loyalty then you may have to consult your dictionary in the near future (please refrain from reintroducing Saturday nights events because that is irrelevant to the passion and the commitment of those involved). I can’t say that I am a frequent member of active support but to dismiss them as an aside in terms of the atmosphere of a football match displays an unparalleled level of ignorance.
Moreover, your suggestion that our state is not so bad because we’re “only a few points out of the six” is frankly insulting. We’re the second most supported club in the league, which should duly be rewarded with better performances. End of.
Sydney FC fans are on the brink of desertion
Hes on the recovery trail, should be back by the end of the season
Sydney FC fans are on the brink of desertion
Perhaps, but we’ve so recently qualified for tournaments in spite of results exactly like these so I don’t see where the shock is coming from. Disappointment, of course, but not shock.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
