Many players may prefer to be allowed to punch. I despise boxing but when there’s so much tension I can see why landing a punch would be the way to go. As a woman league is the only sport in which I enjoy the biff.

PRICHARD: Slapping is just as bothering as punch-ons

Would it be feasible for team doctors to swap teams for the match in order to assess concussions? I know most will think it silly but it may be cost effective. If the opposition doctor is assessing a player they MAY have less pressure on them to get the player back on the ground. If the Roosters doctor had been assessing Souths Adam Reynolds would he have let him back on the field? The better safe than sorry adage may be best.

NRL vows to toughen up on concussion policy

Can honestly that being a Tasmanian who has lived in VIC, ACT, NSW and QLD the vicious and pathetic tripe that comes out of the mouths of queenslanders to do with anyone playing for NSW has always, and continues, to sicken me and makes me so glad I decided to never return to that parochial, insular, narrow-minded state ever again.

Rugby league's full-circle relationship with Paul Gallen

Burgess was still not having medical the next day because he wanted to party and celebrate the win. How much does the game need to be turned into a sport that has no great stories of players defying injury.? As a woman I deeply admire the tough men. Maybe because my dad is one and would tolerate no sookiness from any of us. Burgess has created a great story and there’s not much brain matter in out faces to worry about.

Burgess' injury shows the need for neutral doctors

It’s a nanny state gone mad decision. As a woman I admire a man who will make his point with his fist. Certainly my boyfriend putting another (out of order) bloke on his bum with a punch doesn’t bother me

One punch, ten minutes, zero discretion: The NRL needs a rethink

My problem with the Storm is that a QLD sourced team in MLB. I’m Tasmanian and know the Storm is followed by Tasmanians but it was imposed on MLB and is really just another QLD club. Bellamy is an outstanding coach but they Storm are the ones who have brought in many distasteful tactics. Chicken-wing, grapple tackle, wrestlng & more. The salary cap breach was unforgivable but that was management. Huge talent with Smith, Cronk & Slater seems to have bred arrogance but they do work hard to be so good. My deep hatred for QLD and its parochial attitude will never fade. As long as the Storm are QLDers in MLB I’ll be a hater.

What's with the hatred for the Melbourne Storm?

Big Marn Professor Hugh White is a commentator on Defence but he has neverr served in uniform. Does that make him less qualified to commnent? Erin’s dad Major-Gen Molan isn’t the man the press turn to for comment on defence matters it’s Prof White. She is quite as capable of expressing an opinion as a male who has never played NRL.

Erin Molan: Haters gonna hate

I sincerely hope Darius finds solace with close friends and family. A support network of people who understand is crucial. It’s also vital for doctors and therapists to provide practical skills and understanding so one can help oneself and only the individual knows what works for them. YOu can be surrounded by people and still feel incredibly alone and lonely. Excellent therapy, medication (if required) and knowing you have people to phone or visit. It’s a long hard road to finding a life that’s rewarding. It’s often people you least expect that can help the most. Only another person who has had depression can really understand and that’s why support groups are available but there’s also online chat forums where you can remain anonymous.

Darius Boyd, rugby league and my battle with mental illness

The media focus on players and their behaviour is excruciating to watch. I’d hate to be one of their victims while suffering an illness. They only care about ratings and news and not about the individual. Leave the players alone! Comment on the sport and not the player. If I’d had a massive amount of external, unwanted attention on me when I was suicidally depressed I would probably have taken my life. I was thinking the ony thing that would satisfy my employer was if I topped myself. The media loves a story and seem to NOT care about the people of whom they write. If you haven’t got anything nice to say don’t say anything. The people who showed up at John Manna’s after he died to ask about whether they knew if John had taken supplements at Cronulla appalled me and it’s just one example of the lack of humanity in reporting.

It's time for the media to help tackle depression

Personally think Hird should retire (he can probaby afford it) and try to salvage some dignity by so doing. Hird could live overseas and stop keeping the spotlight on himself. His ego seems to believe he’s ordained to be with Essendon for life. He needs a good shrink to tell him to stop standing in a spotlight that tired of him so Essendon can go into the future with as clean a slate as possible. Ricky has a winners mentality and seems stuck in the rut of constantly moving clubs to be a winner again. Baker-Finch the golfer left the game and became a commentator. Commentators earn good money and that’d be an option.

Two broken down coaches: Time to take Stuart and Hird off the road

Mudgee is a making a name for producing great wines as is the Charles Sturt Uni at Wagga Wagga. With so many regional areas becoming popular and bringing good crowds the NRL would be foolish not to take more games out to the western districts. Armidale and Tamworth are worth visiting.

NRL comes to Bathurst: A guide to footy in the sticks

Good luck to a good player. Wise decision but sad. Looking after his health is the most important thing and hope he has a terrific future.

Tigers' Fulton retires from the NRL

Trying to be Bear Grylls and failing dismally.

How do you solve a problem like Todd Carney?

The human brain doesn’t finish developing until age 25 to 30 but how dumb can he be? This is ridiculous. I feel sorry for his mum.

Todd Carney sacked, but what happens next?

They need to play in Hobart because it has the bigger population

Why the NRL should expand into Tasmania

Wally was one of the most conceited players of all time. The mooning incident disgusts me to this day. QLDers are way too parochial and precious. Tasmanians have been called 2 headed for decades and we take it with a roll of the eyes and simply think idiot about those who say it. QLD was the worst of the 5 states and territories in which I’ve lived.

Wally Lewis blasts Paul Gallen

I hate Justin Hodges. I think he’s a lot dirtier than his record shows.

The most hated players in the NRL

Disobeying an order isn’t an option in the military. If a player disobeyed the trainer’s order to go off the field the player needs to know a punishment from the club is going to occur. Players disadvantage the club by not going off under the concussion rule because if they later go off it’s under the interchange. Players should do as ordered by the trainer. If they’re fine they’ll be back on the field in minutes and the team won’t lose an interchange. Orders are orders. Rules are rules.

The dismal state of concussions in the NRL

I’d love to see league in TAS. The Storm v Broncos game was tops and I’d go even if my team (Wests Tigers) were’nt playing. This state needs more than AFL and cricket. I was converted to league when in the RAAF in 87. Saw a report about the Panthers thinking about playing games down here but then nothing.

Why the NRL should expand into Tasmania

At least he’s there for the Dragons if Carney’s injured.

Benji Marshall signs with St George Illawarra Dragons

Didn’t realise he’d taken a pay cut in union. Glad he’s signed with St George. The comments by Gallen about his media stuff may have been a tad close to the bone

Is Benji worth waiting for?

The fact the footy show are talking about him being on next week is, I think, a sign of Benji’s future aspirations in media. That Beau Ryan appears to do more on tv than for his club is due to his injury but he and Benji may disillusion fans by being so hungry for the media dollars.

Is Benji worth waiting for?

Money is always the driver with Benji. It’s why he’s so keen to get back on the Footy Show too.

Is Benji worth waiting for?

The Footy Show are saying how they’re looking to having him back so perhaps his first priority is to establish himself in the media?

Still no Benji announcement on NRL return
