“I hate yellow cards.
I am a Springbok fan, so I am particularly unhappy about how often they get thrown around. We as fans pay good money to see 15 play against 15. If players offend, cite them after the game.”
Fans also pay good money to watch rugby union – I assume that they would prefer to see players running with the ball rather than stopping play via illegal play.
Perhaps the south africans could learn the rules so that they do not give away so many penalties
Rugby's flaws in an otherwise perfect game
The best option for the Sharks would be to play in the NSW cup
Stuart departs early as the Storm keeps raging
The AFL has no interest in putting teams where people support Australian Rules Football or where people in the area would like to have a team in the AFL
Does the AFL care about teams in Tasmania and Darwin?
I wonder who will come out next year?
Bolton, Blackburn or Sunderland?
Everton's Australian tour is an absolute rip off
Ha – very good Alders
He comes across as a bit of a knob.
His concerns seem to be to make soccer popular in Australia because it is the most popular sport in the world – not because he likes it.
I reckon if rugby or basketball were the most popular world sport he would be banging on about that instead
Fozz on 'The most important frontier of all'
Smith and Cronk would slot in well at Parramatta
Having Inglis in the centres would also be good
Where should Melbourne's Big Four play next season?
“Another interesting fact mentioned, was wanting to create a playing style uniquely Victorian”
That doesn’t sound very promising if they want to be successful.
Is there any sport where teams have been successful using a “Victorian style”
Why the Rebels will bleed passion
The billion dollar TV money will be used to re-educate you The Other Reds Fan
What the AFL has to do to become king
You would have to be living in a cave or Melbourne to think that there has been no exposure to Victorian Rules football in Sydney for the past 30 years
What the AFL has to do to become king
I agree about the Parramatta halves.
Someone (Mortimer) needs to take control of the play when they are near the line. Be the first receiver for 3-4 tackles and then allow guys like Hayne and Mateo to chime in every now and then as an option.
At the moment it is one play for Mortimer, one for Hayne and maybe one for Keating or Mateo – no one knows what is going on
The curse of the one-man NRL team
I don’t really care much for the AFL – but if they were to have SOO why not have something like 6 team competition
WA, SA, Vic, Tas, NSW, Qld. ACT players go to NSW, NT players go to Qld/WA/SA – their preference
Play it every 2 years as an end of season tournament.
2 pools of 3 with a final between the top 2
Pool seedings based on previous tourament results
Why the AFL needs State of Origin
I would say that if you follow the technical aspects of the world cup bid then Qatar has no chance.
There only chance would be for FIFA to overlook all of these issues for some political purpose – I would like to think that this would not happen
Why Qatar has no chance of hosting the World Cup
I have to agree with you
Perhaps Bird is in their to make up for the penalties given away now that O’Donnell has gone.
I look forward to Beau Scott doing another great defensive effort in containing Greg Inglis. I am sure GI is happy he won’t be marking Jennings.
It is also great that they have gone for 2 locks and a 5/8 in the back row – great balance
Blues selections baffling, once again!
Should the AFL instead be encouraging players to slap the opposition and run away when they don’t have the ball?
Nine weeks for Baker is far too excessive
A good read.
A few questions:
1. Why did you have to get a cab from Carlton station? My apologies if you have some disability that makes it hard for you to walk 5 minutes
2. Where did Bruce Starkey get his ring? I thought that giving out rings for grand final winners was a recent tradition that the NRL copied from the US
St George, Slippery and The Skull
Yeah it is great
The World Cup gives you free rein to make stereotype jokes about the countries in the upcoming games
Santo, Sam and Ed's Cup Fever has a great future
My main concern with the 2013 world cup is having 16 teams.
I would much rather have less teams (10 like the last one or 12 max) and have more qualifiers.
Qualifiers are especially important for the long term planning of emerging nations
2013 will be the greatest league World Cup ever
I agree with the article as well
We appear to be a mid-level side, capable of an upset on the day – but getting past the group stage would be a success but not expected.
If our players were world class they would be starting for the top teams in England, Italy, Germany and France rather than filling the gaps in the lower teams there or playing in places like Turkey
Egos aside, Socceroos just aren't that good
If you just want drama punter why don’t you just watch Neigbours or something?
Egos aside, Socceroos just aren't that good
From memory they got the lead in the end with 2 late goals – so add an extra 5 minutes
Egos aside, Socceroos just aren't that good
“What promoted this explosion of rage from Tahu?”
Are you a brain dead fool who has been living in a cave for the past 3 weeks?
He obviously had to take it out on someone and McManus was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Didn’t really make anything better for Tahu though
What was Timana Tahu thinking?
My guess is that the template that spiro uses for all of his articles has a paragraph that attacks rugby league
The All Whites success involves a touch of Kiwi
I agree
It is a rule that is added that is not needed.
If they went back to having draws no one would care.
If the Saints v Titans game was a draw no one would care
Golden point extra time a winning change
